Sizing comparisons?
Hello,
Pardon me if this has been asked, I couldn't really find exact answers, hence the new thread. In general I know that bigger wheel (both in diameter and width) mean more weight but more grip(in the case of width) I know that for better performance, generally a smaller diameter is preferred... right? I don't track my car yet, but I plan to do occasional stuff - more just for fun and to become a better driver. Not too interested in competitive stuff right now - too costly. The three wheels I'm considering are: 57DR 17x9 +35 Kojin 17x8 +40 Kojin 17x9 +45 Kojin 18x8.5 +45 I'm going to be getting BC BR coilovers - as for the drop, not too sure, maybe an inch? I think the 57DR's look the nicest however I'd like to get some input on which ones you think would be the best bet. I'm really new to this stuff, but in my mind, 9 width wheels are pretty big aren't they? Originally I wanted 8 width since they didnt seem excessive, just one inch more than stock. But it seems 9's are perfectly acceptable and normal? I wanted to stick to 17" since I figured, 18's are mostly just for looks and I don't really think there's a huuuge difference between the two, plus 17s are lighter. So yeah... lotsa questions, lotsa options, perhaps you gentlemen can give some suggestions and/or advice? Thanks a bunch! |
larger diameter wheels give you nothing but looks, brake clearance, and added weight.
why I stock with 17" wheels |
Yeah that's why i want to stick with 17s. just curious now about width
