Lowering Question

Rims: Rota Grid, 18X8.5 + 44 front, 18X9.5 +38 rear,
Tires: Michellin Pilot Super Sports, 225/40/18 front, 255/35/18 rear

I have the above steup on my car for wheels/tires and was wondering what issues I need to be aware of when planning to lower.

Originally I was going to go with coilovers but since I daily the car I think I just want to do lowering springs and was planning on going with the Tanabe GF210 since that seems to be the smallest drop available, .6 front, .9 rear.

I've seen some people with a similar wheel setup do a full inch drop all around and report no rubbing/issues so I was wondering if I could expect the same success with the Tanabe product or if other mods were needed to make sure it handled properly and no rubbing etc occured.

Thanks for the help!

you will not have a problem, i'm going to be running a similarly sized setup on sportlines with a 1.4inch drop and as others have mentioned there will be no issues

Going to use the same size wheels and tires that you are running (different wheels but same staggered sizes) and considering the sportlines. What's gonna happen when I throw in the wife and a couple pieces of luggage to go on a road trip? Am I going to wish I had installed the pro kit instead? Is there enough "wiggle room" with the sportlines to accommodate a little more drop because of occasional added weight?

Most lowering springs are "progressive" meaning they have a higher spring rate the more they are compressed, you may have a rougher ride when fully loaded but you shouldn't run into any clearance problems.

Thanks y'all. I like the look of the sportlines better and if they can work well for a daily driver....then I'm on it. The only experience I've had is with TRD springs on my Celica GTS for the last 11 years. I've never had any problems with them, but they're also not as dropped as the sportlines would be. Thanks for the advice!

No problem

I have the same setup. I installed Eibach Sportlines previously with the stock wheels because they offered the biggest drop on springs, and loved it. Since upgrading to 18s though, it seemed to add a bit of wheel gap and it's driving me nuts. Now i'm personally the type who loves slammed & stanced, so maybe my opinion doesn't apply. As far as drivability on what I have, its perfect. No rubbing, even slamming into potholes doesnt hit the fenders. I'll be switching it up to coils soon enough though...

I have Rota Grid 18x9.5 e38 with 255/35/18 all the way around and am dropping my car this weekend on the Eibach Sportlines as well. I will update u as soon as i can get them installed. I talked to Zoeb and he runs my setup on his car with the sportlines and he said there is no issues at all. So, Im not expecting any rubbing when i complete the drop.
