Next Generation WRX STI Spotted at The Ring

Looks like a chopped up version of the current impreza, let's hope this isn't the final version!

we're being trolled. Thats a Prius with a wing.

tennisfreak 04-16-2013 11:17 AM

Hell yes this looks like trolling.

Very bad Photoshop hood scoop, lmao.

Edit: I know the link is to autoblog and this is probably legit but dang that looks ugly.

bdub85 04-16-2013 11:20 AM

Looks like ass

norsamerican 04-16-2013 11:21 AM

Subaru, Come the hell on. Drivers of these cars want an aggressive looking car not a 4-door Civic with a wing. Its like your engineers are closed off from civilization.

What does this have to do with the FR-S?

I guess you missed this thread:

That looks to be much more than the previous test mule. It's camo'ed but you can still see the new boomerang head lights, electrical taped STi badge, wing, fender vents, big rims, etc..

This looks to be the next STi. This also looks like the 2013-14ish cars are going to be flying off the lots as fast as they arrive.

I am very meh about this concept until the next run of car pics.

tomato86 04-16-2013 11:25 AM

Waitwut, what happened to that ultra sleek concept WRX from a few weeks ago?

SkitterSkotter 04-16-2013 11:38 AM

I absolutely love the look of concept cars, I would love to be able to buy one of the prototypes at some point in my life. Don't look too far into its design, Honda used a hacked up S2000 to test various components for its NSX (before it was killed). Plus, that car has many more lines in it tat we just can't see. I think the new STI will be pretty insane.

Sweet! I was able to see the concept in person. Here's a cell phone pic I took:

Also, we have two wonderful sections for non FR-S topics:

Other Vehicles & General Automotive Discussions: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6
Off-Topic Lounge: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5

This section should be for FR-S related stuff

bakerr6 04-16-2013 11:55 AM

looks like a prius and a tc mated and this is what they popped about.

Nonetheless, people complaining about the sti being ugly, isn't that what subaru is known for in the first place?

bimmerboy 04-16-2013 12:30 PM

mods- thanks for moving.

To all that fell inlove with the wrx concept, I think it's good to remember that Subaru always has very extravagant concept cars. Very rarely do their concept car designs translate to the real thing.

The BRZ/FR-S is a very rare exception and I think that was due to the fact that Toyota was incharge of the styling.

As others stated, the WRX has always been a hopped up version of the Impreza, so I expect this car to be very close to what we will see in the production version. The main thing for me is that I hope they step up to the plate and make this car competitive given its price point. Given the price of the BRZ, the next WRX/ STi will very likely approach $30/40k and a LOT of car can be had for that money...

BlaineWasHere 04-16-2013 12:46 PM

Does anyone remember when they said the new WRX/STi wouldn't be based on the new Impreza? I guess Subaru forgot too.

Zaku 04-16-2013 01:50 PM

Guys since when does Subaru ever look exactly like their concept cars lol @ichitaka05 yeah I remember what you said.
