Large Project - Assistance Required

If you don't know I am doing a large video project showing the FR-S in and out in stock form. The first video details the short comings and the second video will cover modifying it and in the end seeing if it was all worth it.

So I start shooting the second part in May, so my goal is to try and see who I can meet up with to do autox and track day comparisons in the Midwest?

I may travel to PA to meet up with Sam Strano for this part of the project as well but need to talk with him. But please post your thoughts, and if you run autox and which class, or where you run your track days?

Anyway this is the trailer for Chapter 3
Part 1 of 2

We're in Schaumburg and go to the track / autox quite a lot.

Lol, so that's the car Harry was driving last week! If you need Gingerman times, I know the track pretty well and can help you out with testing there. I know the track manager pretty well and instruct out there a lot also.

The FRS has no faults.
The FRS is perfect.
Sculpted by the collective power of all the Greek gods, the FRS is a chariot that Zeus himself fears to touch.
Icarus dare not approach it.
Steven Segal expressed emotion while driving it.
Chuck Norris’s legs were shaking after a test drive.
The Hulk did not smash the FRS.

Modding the FRS is like putting Mr.T and Chuck Norris in the same room, resulting in an atomic explosion of pure awesomenes.

Good luck with your project.

Toyota needs to get Terry Crews to promote its products.

I am at pretty much every SCCA and WAI autox event up in Milwaukee. I run my car in STX and have a pretty good start to the build.

I may want to actually use official timing and it would be nice to have a place local to bounce things off of as well. Next month I will hit you up after I am done filming the supercharger segment.

Ok I will probably do the May 6th WAI event. I stopped going to Miller Park because it was always so crowded seat time/vs work time was horrible.
My last event I worked almost 3 hours and had 5 runs at 55 seconds a piece.

I hear that. but to be fair, those events are few and far in between. It is very rare that you get less than 6 runs and that your work assignment lasts that long. I hate it when it does though.

You may want to see if Tire Rack will let you use their test track and timing equipment. I'd give John "Woody" Rogers or Chris "Trent" Harvey a call and see if it would be possible. Tell them Steve Jackson sent you. Both of these guys can turn consistently fast times. Probabaly the key is consistency as to what you're trying to accomplish. Matt Edmonds would also be another contact for track use.

If need be you could use my car as part of the testing. My signature tells the story as far as setup.

Thanks a bunch for the heads up!

I would like to do this, but would require two different days of testing. For an hour or two.

Also there is the question of insurance as well. I assume you know them pretty well for me to cold call them asking for help?

I worked with them for quite a few years and my son works there in technical support. Chris gave me a helping hand when we installed the Konis. I can't guarantee it will happen but it's worth a shot. As far as insurance goes, Im not sure. Best to ask them.
I'm thinking both of them may be going to Grissom on Sunday for a test and tune. That may be pretty short notice, but an excellent opportunity to play around with the cars. Both of these guys did the development of the MX5 for the Grass Roots Motorsports project. Woody and Chris will be setting up a Honda S2000 this year.

I just sent this PM on Facebook to Chris so he has a heads up that you may be contacting him. Good luck with the project no matter the verdict.

Hey Chris
Just to give you a heads up. There's a guy on FT86 Forum that is doing a documentary film of sorts comparing a stock FRS to a modified one and needs to do some track testing and filming, possibly with you or Woody doing the testing at the Rack. I told him I didn't know if you could arrange this or not, but it might be worth a call to you to talk over the particulars
Steve

Thanks I appreciate it, this will give me some alternate options for additional testing and more real comparisons. You went out of your way!!
