Instructors usually are members of the sanctioning club (Porsche Club of America, MAC, Corvettes of MN) and usually are rewarded with track time, but they are fair about their business. AutoX days usually run 20-30 a day or 40 for TnT's. It's cheaper if you're a member of MAC/ MOWOG. And you'll always need to pay. But it is like an inexpensive education on what limits you can push your car to, while being in a somewhat controlled environment.

I'm an enthusiast who got lucky and was hired by a smaller motorcycle dealership in Shakopee. I am the Web Admin for Sales and Photographer along with Salesman. I started in parts and have a passion for helmets actually.

sort of surprised that the brz is getting some attention in our state too lol.

That was likely their Minnetonka showroom. I worked for Morries in Brooklyn Park for about 6 years and the other dealership always got the cool toys.

neutron256 03-05-2012 08:36 PM

Well at least I know I'll get to see a BRZ at the auto show next week. I'd really like the chance to see one at the dealership where I can sit in it and poke around though.

GrimmSpeed 03-05-2012 10:23 PM

We got ours on order from St. Cloud Subaru. Price won't be marked up at all. Color is Satin White Pearl.

They never said anything about how many they are getting like you guys are stating about the other dealerships....makes me kind of nervous. I did get my "thank you for your order" email from Subaru though.

Did they tell you how many orders they have in ahead of yours?

don't make me regret my decision by not going with white. lol

I agree this is one of the most active regional threads on this forum. Go Minnesota!

Chupacabra 03-05-2012 11:05 PM

Aw Justin! I take it that you don't need my new FR-S anymore?

If not, no biggie... I'll still look to help out a local tuner and manufacturer of high-quality parts in Grimmspeed.

And we definitely do have a high participation with diverse ZC6 ownership.

Go 10,000 lakes!

This is the dealer we work closely with and they have treated us VERY well. We are #1 on the list. If you guys call up there, ask for Tommy Patton.

I was tempted also. Never wanted white with any vehicle before but changed my mind to DGM last minute.. Hopfully we'll cover most of the available colors here in MN to make for a good group photo.

It'll be a surprise for me. I told my dealership (Scion) that I don't care what color I get, just not Hot Lava. I would like Firestorm or Asphalt personally because I eventually want to swap headlights with the 86.

So our group photo will definitely be diverse.

Ugh, speaking of headlights. I wish they gave us the 16" rims and kept the blackened headlights, even if it wasn't HID.

I'll be curious to see who cracks the shell first on changing the color of the headlights first. People did it with the 1st gen tC when it came out, and when I bought mine in 2008, the stock headlights were blacked out.

For me, I will have to utilize my parts connections at Toyota to try to get them.

Did anyone go the auto show today? I really want to see the BRZ in person. A coworker and I are planning on going on Tuesday to check it out.

not today, i've been working. will try to go tomorrow.

Starscream15 03-11-2012 09:35 PM

I went today. The BRZ was roped off! !$#@

It was a pre-production model so I'm not surprised. I tried to talk the factory rep into letting me sit in it with the old sob story "Oh woh is me, I haven't even sat in the car I've ordered!". She gave the usual "If I let you then I have to let everyone..." yada yada. She did say if I came back on the last day between 5-6, right before close, she would let me sit in it. I'm very tempted to spend the 10 bux for that.

BTW, BRZ was sexier in person. Major wood...

I also asked her if she knew if one would be visiting dealers in the area and she didnt know for sure.

Anyone else get there this weekend?

I'll be going Tuesday or Wednesday. Did Scion happen to have an FR-S there? I read something indicating they might.

Like Starscream, the lady wouldn't let me even open the door to peek inside. She was the same way to me. I got a few pics, but it's the red one, so it looks the same but very nice in person.

No FR-S on display. The women told me that there is only one touring the country and its in Atlanta now. The Scion people gave me free swag for being a Scion owner, but the keychain emblem was wrong...it was mirrored so it spelled noicS (you know)

She also might have mentioned that pricing should release at NYIAS. I'm hoping she is right.

Oh, I also got to drive a Challenger SRT8 at the show too!

Hopefully I'll run into someone else when I go who will be a little more willing to let me check out the car, but I'll probably run into the same thing.

It will be nice to at least see it in person. A little something to tide me over until May.

xrs 03-12-2012 12:11 AM

 Saw the BRZ at the show today. Definitely looks longer than seemingly indicated by photoshop comparos I've seen on the board here. It's a very nice size I'd have to say. I was worried it was gonna come off looking too small for me. Loving the car in red! I absolutely think the mustache looks like a cheap afterthought plastic cover just like the Mazdas. Dunno, the headlights are looking good but really doesn't do much for me. I thought seeing the BRZ in person would make it difficult to stay FRS but really, it just solidified my choice in the FRS. All in all, the cars both look like the same car. It's not even as dramatic of a difference like you see in a Talon and Eclipse. I will also add that this car throws off more of a RSX Type S price tag presence to me. Probably due to the stock wheel design. I'll post my pics tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of the stock wheels personally. Not to mention that they looked very narrow. They'll look better stacked in the garage with Blizzaks on them, hehe.

xrs 03-12-2012 03:58 PM

Dunno, as much hype as they're making this car out to be...IMO the premium should start at $25k. A 2006 Type S was $23,845, and a 2012 Si starts at $22,205 just for reference. Here's a couple of pics from the show. Only two pics turned out cuz the stupid rope allowed for almost no other good angles of the car. That plus my point and shoot was acting up Sunday.

Car looks tall cuz it is. Def needs a drop.

Starscream15 03-12-2012 04:25 PM

Looks good to me! Thanks for the pics. My iPhone pics are nowhere near as good.

neutron256 03-15-2012 07:37 PM

Just got back from the auto show. They let me sit in the BRZ when I told them I had my pre-order in. I'm in love! It felt just right small but not cramped. I can't wait to get my own.

It's seemed wider then I thought it would, but that's not a bad thing at all. I'm re-thinking my choice to go with the Limited. I could be very happy with the premium but it's all good.

ayau 03-15-2012 07:39 PM

Which trim did they have at the show?

i wish they had the limited at the show but i won't complain.

neutron256 03-15-2012 09:24 PM

I wish they had a limited in galaxy blue silica. But it was nice to just see one in person at all. Even better that I got to sit in it. I'm hooked I want it!

Love the size. I was afraid it was gonna look like a small FWD econo box based coupe we're all so used to seeing from Japanese manufacturers in person.

I agree. I was very pleased with the looks. For a car that is on paper very close to the Miata the BRZ is so much cooler. Miatas are fun but it terms of looks it's a girl car, that's even to girrly for many girls. :)

Brilliant! I wish I would have seen your post before I went for my 2nd trip yesterday.

The person that took my order at Bloomington Subaru said they expect to have one available after the show. I didn't get specifics on time or anything, but I speculate that it'll be that same red premium. I wonder if that BRZ will be making the rounds of the TC dealerships. Maybe being the #1 local dealership gets you dibs?

HAARP 03-17-2012 11:51 PM

Checking in...I'm from the Twin Cities! Been lurking for months.

I'm interested in possibly getting the BRZ...maybe the STi version, depending on what that'll end up being.

Just thought I'd say Hi! http://www.forumsextreme.com/images/sSp_stpatricks.gif

Hello and welcome!

DMDZK 03-18-2012 01:44 PM

For those of you who didn't make it to the auto show, or just wanna sit and play in a BRZ. When I stopped by Bloomington Acura/Subaru they had an automatic premium BRZ (blue) on the show floor.

It sounds like they'll have it till the end of the month-ish.

Definitely was nice getting a chance to check it out.

I'll check with my sales guy at morries and let you all know if he has any info. Thanks for the heads up!

My bet is that the Minnetonka Morries store will hog it the whole time and it wont make it to BP.

EDIT: Just talked to a salesman at the Minnetonka store and he said they haven't seen it there yet. I must be at one of the local stores though.

I'll try White Bear.
