Also, we got really lucky with Scion, we are able to get our hands on one for a few hours. If you can keep a secret maybe we can invite a few of you over to check it out.

As much as I'd like to hire you, I don't write the checks.

By the way, Welcome!

Still cool to have other fans in the area even if you won't be an owner.

Given that it's 2+2 seating and RWD I don't think these are going to be super common around here. There will probably be more FRSs then BRZs just because of the price but thats okay I love having a unique car.

Maybe we can arrange to have a meet at Cars & Cafe at AutoMotorPlex in Chanhassen once we get our AS1's?

I would be up for that. When I had a smart car it was always fun and educational meeting other owner.

(Yes I owned a Smart Car, and I loved it. I would still have it if they hadn't closed the only local dealership)

They put a Fiat dealership there instead, but NOBODY is buying those things. I knew plenty of people who bought the Smart at its inception. I hate to say it, but JLo soiled that car, and the Abarth came out way too late for that car to have broken the niche car stereotype.

No sense in trying to keep it too hush hush for the four or five of us Minnesotans on this board. Share the love! :happy0180:

You know the one! Burnsville Toyota. Not only are they pretty cool there, it's the closest one to me.

Learned a few things today.

If you want to know how hot lava looks like, check out an IQ or XB. They have them painted in the hot lava color. The color is more towards the red spectrum of orange and darker than it shows up on photos. Moved it to my #1 color choice.

I'm #4 in line for the FRS there. They haven't been able to place any orders except 1 "somehow" got through. I'm assuming this order is for someone not on this board for the Scion first 86 program. If so then technically I'm #3 in line.

Feels great to get into the dealership and finally start the ball rolling on this.

Did they have any idea when the would start getting them in stock?

With the exception of the first 86 people I'm still betting we'll see BRZ's here before we see The FRS. Scion has their strategy of starting at the coasts and working inward when rolling out new cars.

Woot, I'm number 2 on the list at Burnsville Scion behind a sales guy who works there. Maybe I'm the lucky one? Nobody has informed me, but I'm there enough...so ya never know.

Either way, I agree with you Neutron about the BRZ arriving first. If this is the case, I might bail on the FR-S and BRZ it up. Once my connection gives me some info, I'll be the first to report it here about dates and important info such as product stock.

If anyone here knows someone who's interested in a 2010 5 speed Honda Fit, please let me know. I'm trying to get rid of this car for the BRZ.

Haha I'll be trading in my 2011 CR-Z when I get the BRZ. Might see if we can do a deal to trade in my wife's fit at the same time and get her a WRX.

I'm currently not driving the Fit right now so it's just eating up money. Don't know if I want to just sell it now to the dealer or trade it in at Subaru for the tax benefit. The problem is that we don't know when the BRZ officially comes out so the car will just be sitting here for at least another couple of months.

Yeah, I'm not sure how accurate the guy was so take it with a grain of salt. He was checking their system after I asked him if orders were starting yet. He basically said orders haven't started then mumbled...except it looks like one went through.

This sounds about right. Even finding out there will be a BRZ at the autoshow and no FRS seems to support this. Unless something changes, June is probably when we'll see them here.

MN members, is there any possibility dealers locally will price the BRZ above MSRP?

I'm just curious because I'm thinking about going for the higher-end features...

Once some of us acutally have our cars I would love to have a meetup. And I'd be happy to give a ride to a fellow enthusiast.

Chances are pretty low in our area that they will be priced above MSRP. All the Subaru dealers have moved to the one-price system. Chances are the car will not have any marked discount at some dealerships whereas others will. You can thank the Walser family of dealerships that have completely changed this whole market into the one-price, no negotiations, no haggle way of selling. Whether your take on thanking them is positive or negative, it's purely up to you.

They will however, negotiate if you see one dealership is discounting at x amount of dollars vs. them not discounting at all. They will not show their discounted pricing on their websites and want you to contact them to find out the discount. I found that if you go to cars.com, you can see cars.com have the retail price of the car w/discount and compare the same car to the msrp on the dealer's website. They typically flat rate discount per model so it's pretty easy to figure the discount from that point on.

I'm fully expecting to pay MSRP + destination charge for my BRZ. Not that I won't try and negotiate, but I know I'm at a disadvantage trying to get the car early on.

Sold my Fit to Acura in Brooklyn Park last night. They offered me the most value.

Now the wait is on for the BRZ.

Congrats on the Fit sale!

I got an email on my tC from my credit union letting me know value and equity built on it...I'm kicking ass! I can't wait to debt up again in a few months and destroy that equity.

If you don't mind me asking how much did you get for it? How many miles on it?

We might try and trade my wife's Fit for a WRX at the same time we get the BRZ.

I see on some of the other threads that some subaru dealerships are getting demo/traing BRZ's. Anyone hear anything about this locally?

Chupacabra 02-21-2012 01:13 AM

I haven't heard that from my contacts, but I think we'll hear something at the auto show if we get the chance to talk to a dealer.

By the way, the FR-S is set for full production on March 26th, and we might be seeing them mid-late May. And Burnsville Scion/Toyota has had more people seriously asking about the FR-S in the last week since xrs put the deposit down.

Nice. The big rumor is that Subaru will start taking ore-orders on the 27th.

Apparently that's pushed back to the 30th now.

Chupacabra 02-26-2012 12:50 AM

Guys, I had an awful experience at Walser Subaru today. I went after work to meet with my friend who is a sales associate there to discuss the BRZ and place a deposit down on the car for a pre-order.

I was asked to give a $500 deposit (check or cc) to be the first of the 5 total allocated units for the remainder of the year at Walser. I explained that I didn't have any checks on me but I'd get one from my credit union Monday and have the ability to finance via my credit union with proof of my score.

My friend (sales guy) said 'absolutely no problem, I'll just let my manager know'. My friend comes back and says 'I'll need you to fill out this credit application to approve the BRZ preorder' I said 'why?' and he told me it was standard procedure for their dealership since they've been burned in the past on STI's and other machines. I then explained how I was going to finance through my credit union and how I didn't need to fill out any of this in order to give a $500 deposit.

I then asked to inform the manager of this in my own words without my friend having to play messenger. He brought over his manager named 'Za**' (who shall remain anonymous and Canadian) who belittled me into attempting to fill out a credit app. I was disgusted at the tone of voice and the way he handled my willingness to get the BRZ. I explained that my $500 deposit and ability to fund a $29000 car would be something I'd consider prior to walking in the dealership and that my credit doesn't need to be placed in limbo within Walser's system. He then asked about my ability to get financed with a negative tone and then stated 'oh, we can do much better than 2.49% for 60' . Why the fuck would you say that in such a disdainful tone?

I'm sticking with the FR-S based off of this horrible manager experience at WALSER Subaru in Burnsville. Be aware, if you want the BRZ at this dealership, they will make you fill out a credit application!

Yeah, that really sucks. We ran into the same sales manager there. Total tool, went on a trade evaluation "test drive" with him and he would spout off all the oldest salesman jokes in the book. I really liked their new manager they hired though. Yeah, only reason we ended up buying from there was it's the closest location to us and they had the exact incoming impreza we wanted.

Chupacabra 02-26-2012 10:41 AM

I just think its unfortunate that they have someone there like that. Everyone that I know there is really genuine and I think he's a genuine jerk.

So, it'll be an FR-S for me. And we can still drive like a boss. It makes me want to buy Bill and the people at Burnsville Scion a box of chocolates.
