Hi I am a new BRZ owner. Just wanted to know what your thoughts are on the service departments of our local Subaru dealerships. I am in the NW suburbs and will probably take it in to Morries in Brooklyn Park.

Hi, welcome to the forums and congrats on your new car!

I have taken my car to Morries 3x.

First time was for a rear diffuser install which they didnt want to do because they 'ran out of time' but I made them do it anyway.

Second time was for an oil change which went smoothly, new gasket new filter and everything.

Third time was for a TSB for the rear popping sound from the trunk, they did an ok job, guy told me that they drove the car and the sound is no longer there. I hopped in my car, drove off the lot, and the first thing I noticed as soon as I got back on the road was the popping noise again. -_-

I am about to head back a fourth time to replace my Navigation issue and let the service guy know that the popping sound is still there. It is less noticeable than before but is still present.

I was told from a friend of mine that they have a lot of BRZ coming in for issues from the Subaru dealership located in Bloomington. If you ever have any issues, I rather you take it to people there who has probably already dealt with issues regarding our cars. Morries dont seem like they have a lot of BRZ coming in at all, I had to print my TSB paperwork for them because they didnt know what I was trying to say about TSB over the phone. Hence, why I have to wait for them to order my navigation parts instead of tackling two TSBs at once.

Welcome!

I don't often take my car to the dealership, but I've been very happy with the service at Bloomington Subaru.

Have you tried the lubricant solution for the popping noise? A couple of sprays of silcone lube in the right spots and I'm noise free for 6+ months now.

I actually had fun last time I went in the rain. Just bring an umbrella. :)

I'm going and bringing my dad. We'll be showing up a little later than normal. Since my FR-S is pretty sublime compared to everybody else's I'll be parking in the normal grassy knoll area.

See y'all there!

Depending on how busy it is we may all be parking on the grassy knoll. :)

Thanks for the replies on the dealership servicing. Any one have suggestions on where to get 3M clear paint protection installed?

I haven't had it done and probably won't, but I did look into it. SkipChips https://skipchips.com/ has a pretty good reputation. I will say the couple of times I talked to them on the phone they didn't come across as super professional, but they still seemed to know their stuff.

I went to Bravo protection off of 394 in Wayzata when I had my tC.
Awesome dudes and did a great job. I got it done through the dealership on the FRS though.

I got my clear bra done at Maplewood Auto Salon, talk to Mike. They gave me an extremely good deal for the kit, which covers the whole front bumper, half fenders, half hood, whole side mirrors, and door seam. For all that, it is for the price of one full bumper if you were to get it done at the stealership, maybe even less!

If you want to meet up, I can show you how the work was done on my car so you can see if you want to do it or not. I love it, I can now drag without chipping my front bumper like how I did my last car. :)

For the record, your car looked great and the clear bra wasn't noticable until I got really close to it. I'd give Maplewood Auto Salon a  from what I saw.

Radium Catch Can Install

Tonight's project: Radium catch can installation. I'm really happy with how my mount came out. The only thing I need to do is change to a 90 degree outlet connector, but it works for now.
