I'm hoping that when it comes to coughing up the rest of the deposit some of the people ahead of me will bow out.

I might have to reserve a WRB Limited MT at Bloomington even though Brookdale Subaru is closer to me.

Hmm...

Hmm...

Bloomington is also the highest volume dealer in the area from what I've heard so they may be allocating them more based on well backed rumors on here

According to my source at Walser, the only dealer getting more than they are is Bloomington Subaru at 8-10.

I really hope so, they look great and I can't wait to see one in person.

Just received this email from Walser Burnsville Subaru:

Hello xxx,

As promised, I am getting you info on the BRZ as I receive it. Wanted to let you know we are only allocated 5 BRZ’s between May and December, so it is first come, first served on Factory orders and we can order now. Let me know if you would like to go ahead.

Best regards,

xxx

looks like the march 27th preordering date wasn't off after all.

ayau 02-28-2012 08:02 AM

it also looks like the brz is coming to the TC auto show.

now i'm hesitant to order with walser subaru after reading Chupacabra's poor experience with the manager.

i don't have a problem with them checking my credit as i'm sure i'll be approved for their financing, but hopefully it doesn't mean that i'm locked in with them for financing. the frustrating part is that we don't know if mn subaru dealers will price gouge the brz due to the limited quantity. if they charge over msrp, i'm pretty sure i'll just wait until i can buy one at msrp.

It is enticing to be one of the few in with a preorder and if you're prepared financially, you should walk in with some type of proof. According to my friend, it's Walser's policy to have your credit run (supposedly once) to go through with a preorder. The major challenge I had was they also need you to sign a credit disclosure. This is where you simply release your credit history to Walser for them to pull whenever they feel like doing so. Ex: You decide to pass on the BRZ, but they have promotional financing for Imprezas and they want to qualify you, they'll dial your credit history (they claim a soft pull) and will contact you via phone, email or mailer to inform you that you qualify.

The problem is, by signing a credit disclosure, you are allowing them to run your credit which is scary. A soft pull through Equifax drops your score 3 points which isn't much...but it is still a negation on your credit score for 90 days until it goes away. And Walser probably wants your credit info to make money for the dealer network, because there will not be too much operable margin within the BRZ.

On that note, the BRZ will most likely be sold here in MN at MSRP. I don't envision price lifts on that car, and most Japanese car buyers are too savvy to buy over MSRP.

New update: my friend called me from Walser and told me they'd be willing to do a $1000 non-refundable deposit for the BRZ since the rate of production between the Scion and Subaru is going to be so different.

That's great news but since I'm going to be in Italy in 2 weeks, my cash flow is frozen until I get back. I told him that I'd make my official decision once I return, but because I felt burned with his asinine manager I will probably stick with the FR-S. In 3 weeks, I'll have an official decision made.

I wanted to share that with everyone here so you'd have knowledge prior to getting at Walser.

neutron256 02-28-2012 02:38 PM

Any idea how many people have put down deposits at Walser?

Chupacabra 02-28-2012 03:00 PM

I don't think anyone has, I would have been the first

Chupacabra 02-28-2012 03:03 PM

So, I don't know if they were making an exception for me about the deposit because I would have caused a stir with Subaru NA...but I wouldn't blare that I have an opportunity to the dealership. If you approach it that you'd be more comfortable placing a non-refundable deposit, they'd probably listen to you
