Ah, I see. So a 'license' is tied to each ECU? I was wondering how that worked.

Yeah, the breakdown is like this.

$250 for the license from ecutek (tied to your ecu)
$350 per cable (can be shared)
$350 for visconti's tune (it can be another tuner here)

John will offer free lifetime updates, and will get you a new license if your car gets totaled, and he also ONLY (to my knowledge) tunes. Other shops won't be as focused upgrading the tune as john will.

Also, currently only Perrin and visconti have the pro tuner software. Everyone else is still waiting giving them more time and experience tuning the twins.

I think I need to stick with putting my money into mechanical upgrades for now. And get a feel for those first. I'm thinking in a year or so after a little more refinement and data if there is another group buy I might be in. That is of course if I feel like I really need to squeeze every possible drop of power out of my BRZ.

In general sounds like a good deal.

Well, I might be the first FR-S to be damaged in MN today. On the way to work this morning, a nice gentleman in a Nissan Frontier was very late for work and tried passing me on the inside shoulder of the Pilot Knob onramp and proceeded to run into my passanger side while doing so. He then took off. I got his plate number and the police are looking for him...ugh, this makes me sick. So much for that Ecutek group buy, hello deductible...

That really sucks. I'd have chased him down.

Sick! In more than 50 years of driving I've never managed to hit anything or been the cause of an accident, but have been hit at least 6 times, and I'm probably blocking more instances. I imagine you love the car as much as I do my own, and I am sorry that this happened to you.

I trust you have obtained a subsequent diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder, so you can sue for life-long therapy and one-time injury worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, in addition to your deductible and expenses.

Exactly! Now I feel like impulse buying for my car. I am going to sue him for full Perrin exhaust and Ecutek flash...

I was in a hit and run once twice. One time I was on the phone with 911 to report a drunk driver when he hit me.

The second time I got rear ended at a stoplight pulled over to the side and they took off. Was pissed when I realized what was happening, but then noticed their license plate had fallen off. Of course it didn't do me much good since they didn't have insurance.

But, you can sue and if successful obtain a judgement that can access future earnings/worth until paid (plus earned interest and maybe penalties). It is true that often these cases settle before hearings, unless your defendant is undocumented and they deport/disappear.

ToxicSneakers - ayau and I are signed up for Sunday.

We decided to sign up in C Stock class instead of Novice this time. Hopefully it'll work well.

I'm gonna see if I can get Justin to let us beat on the BRZ at the MOWOG events towards the end of September and beginning of October. With all this practice, you guys should be ready to deliver a beat down!

Matt
