Good thing that I decided to wait for 2013 or '14 model year.

Wow 13,000 JDM pre-orders just since the unveil at Tokyo Motor Show. So much for that rumor about limited worldwide production run in the first year.

I have a feeling Toyobaru has a huge hit on it's hands and the factory will be working around the clock pumping out AS1s. Maybe 40,000-50,000 total first year production?

This will be the next 240sx mark my words. I mean that in the best way possible!

+1

Lol. Its crazy, but also nice that this car will bring back the sports car. Something to take their minds off of the crappy world economy.

NorCalRider 01-20-2012 03:18 AM

Lets just hope they don't jack up the prices due to such high demand. Thats my big worry.

MRZ415 01-20-2012 03:42 AM

Once there is enough market saturation I think I'll be able to get
my BRZ limited with VIP program plus 0.9% finance .. maybe Next year.

While I do not think the BRZ/GT86 will sell like the Mustang here in the states,
I have a feeling that it'll sell TONS in Japan .. while the Mustang is a niche vehicle
over there due to its LARGE size and high fuel consumption

The BRZ/FR-S in the states will be a Niche vehicle due to its POWER and size...
I can't think of any FR 2+2 cars in the same size and price ... the closet to size
will be the porsche Carerra/911 being a RR 2+2 ...

I'd rather let them do the testing/break in process( not sure if they connect the odo wire yet at the time.) when the car is out of the production line.

As in France this car will not sell, believe me I know french, will I be able to get mine before?

AX_FRS 01-20-2012 09:48 AM

Wow, I hope it is a huge hit in the US, too. I hope that this doesn't make it hard to go take a test drive when it's finally available. With the need for instant gratification so common, it could really hurt potential sales if they can't supply the demand for the car.

ft86Fan 01-20-2012 09:49 AM

Thats good news. I love to get a car that is popular like the Miata with tons of parts and after market support. I never understand why people want their car to be the only one on the block.

Dragonitti 01-20-2012 10:11 AM

Dang that's a lot.

daphaze1 01-20-2012 10:28 AM

I don't know. I think the numbers are going to be lower in terms of actual sales. Scion showed people interested was lower. It could be scion/Toyota put together?

I mean I know a lot of people including myself put preorders for both Subaru and Toyota. If even 1/3rd the people did that, it would be a lot. Just my opinion. I think co-developing and selling seperately will cost them actual numbers in the number of people interested. Since both cars are the same everywhere else except the US. In my opinon both cars are sexy =D.

I talked to a few dealerships and the number of people interested was low. They said its so far been the same people interested. Can people put down preorders in two different dealers?

TRD_07 01-20-2012 10:41 AM

No rush for me I am going to wait it out till '13 or '14 and by then there'll be plenty of after market upgrades and what not. Even though i would like to purchase an FRS soon im going to wait for more competition between after market upgrade developers and get better deals on upgrades.
