Moving in neutral....Engine turns off?

So this has been happening since I can remember every once and a while but the other day it happened twice in 2 minutes

Basically at 40mph I popped the car into neutral and all of a sudden the engine turned off and rpm dropped. A bunch of lights showed up like the TAC sweep lights ( tracation control, battery light, oil light, ABS light, engine light and the steering wheel light) so while i was moving in neutral I started the car again. Then another minute later I come to a complete stop and put the car in neutral again and the car turns off...it kind of concerns me that this has happened multiple times and I have no idea what it may be? Anyone experiencing similar issues?

New start/stop feature?

I'm not sure what it is, but you should def. get it checked out by the dealer, sounds like a bad problem. It def. shouldn't be doing that from just going in Neutral.

Are you leaving it in neutral at 40mph and coasting?

strat61caster 04-14-2013 01:24 PM

Manual or Automatic?

CircuitJerk 04-14-2013 02:16 PM

Intake modifications?

I have an injen intake

Sounds like an ECU issue, take it into the dealer and if they're stumped I would ask for a reflash.

The car isn't holding idle rpm's, that's a problem on a brand new computer controlled car, warranty should take care of it. This is assuming the only mod is the intake of course.

I have seen this happen on a BRZ with an Injen intake.

Suggest you re-install the stock intake and try to reproduce the issue.

Rayme 04-15-2013 07:57 PM

That injen sure is some trouble from what I read on here.

Bonburner 04-15-2013 08:06 PM

Get to dealers asap imo.

CircuitJerk 04-15-2013 08:07 PM

My suggestion would be to reset the ECU by removing the negative cable from the battery and then go over your Injen installation thoroughly. Once you've checked your installation, and you're confident everything is in place and there's nothing unusual, press your horn, turn on your headlights to purge any remaining power from the electronics, wait 5 minutes or so and then reconnect your battery.
If the problem persists try putting the stock intake back on and see if you can duplicate the issue like @deucethemoose suggested.

I wouldn't take it to the dealer until you made sure it's not the intake. I can almost bet it is; the same thing use to happen on my Z and it was pop charger related.

i have an injen intake as well this has happened to me once but after the ecu relearned itself i havent had an issue, guess i got lucky.

firl21 04-15-2013 10:40 PM

IS the injun a short ram or CAI?
Im going to turbo/supercharge my car and i need to know what intakes i need to stay away from
