Mirroring Android screen in Pioneer AVIC-X950BH?

I see that the X950BH has an HDMI input and I'm familiar with the ability to mirror Android screens through HDMI to screens like TVs and computer monitors. I don't really care about interaction with the touch screen, but would it be possible to just mirror the display through the unit's HDMI input? All I really want to do is mirror display so I can see Torque app gauges. I like this HU for a lot of other reasons and will probably be getting it. But this feature will decide if I get the 950, or save $100 and get the 850 (only difference is lacks HDMI, traffic, and HD radio).

I was looking on the X950 too...I am waiting for a better price around July 1st.

Does the 950 nav show traffic condition green, yellow & red like google map on phone? I'm waiting to get one of the pioneer HU Nav.

I don't know about the traffic, not terribly concerned because I usually check traffic on my phone to begin with. I generally use GPS more as an overhead map and ETA for timing than routing me to a location. So I'm all about the 850 and saving money. But if I can get Torque to display, that'd totally be worth it.

It looks like it should via the appradio functionality.

there's a seperate thread about appradio/ android somewhere in this subforum.

The AppRadio mode seems like a gimmicky and proprietary way of getting data from the phone via various radio apps like pandora or aha, or displaying photos and videos from your memory card. What I want to do is display whatever is on my home screen directly on the deck. I don't have a mini HDMI to HDMI cable to test, but as far as I can understand, I can plug in my phone to any TV through the HDMI source, and it just spits out live feed of whatever's on my phone's screen to the TV. I'm just curious if this will spit out the same video feed and be recognized by the Pioneer deck as simple "HDMI video input." If not, I'll just get an 850BT, which I'll probably end up with anyway...

@2forme is the man - he may know.

Appradio will do that. You just need ARLiberator on your android.

One thing to note with mirroring.... It will look very fuzzy/pixelated. keep that in mind.

Weird, doesn't look like he's having that issue above (even when you go fullscreen 1080p on the video). Can you elaborate? Or was the issue you are mentioning not present that video?

2forme 04-15-2013 10:14 AM

He apparently doesn't have the issue. I tried with 3 different devices and the graphics all looked like something out of a PS1 game.

So does mirroring give you full control as well? Im looking for an appradio2 right because of that vid.

Yes, as long as you've got ARLiberator installed on your Android.

I'd hold off on AppRadio2, AppRadio3 will be coming out in a couple months. Here's a preview video, although they only really talk about the iPhone side of things in this:
