Formula D Streaming - Round 1 - Streets of Long Beach

Day 1: Qualifying round is streaming NOW starting with last season's champ, Daigo Saito, kicking it off in a few moments. Link: http://formulad.com/live/

Day 2: The actual competition event time will be Sat Apr 13, 2013 12:00pm EDT — Sat Apr 13, 2013 9:00pm EDT streaming from the same link.

Several 86es are coming to play this season. Judging is based on speed, line, angle, and style. One new innovation this season to make judging the first three criteria more objective is to digitally recreate runs onto a digital map and use the metrics from that. I'm new to watching this stuff but part of the fun is picking things up from watching along.

The most epic battle happened in the Sweet 16. Aasbo and Saito had to do 6 runs because the first 2 and then 4 runs weren't enough for the judges to decide on a winner:

Toshiki Yoshioka, IIRC.

Edit: Yep, it's him. I need to get to watching the rest of these eps... they seem hilarious!

You know what'd be cool? If a vendor organized a contest to see who could correctly guess the winner of formula d. You'd get points for correctly guessing the winner each round as well as the overall winner. And the contest winners would get discounts on parts!

Just throwing the idea out there...

So far Tony Angelo and Toshiki Yoshioka have been eliminated. Gushi and Tuerck are the two 86es left in the top 16 which resumes in a couple hours!

I missed it, I was there to watch before the anthem, and then i came back and those two were already done. Darn I wanted to see the BRZ.

Are you able to go back and view if you can't watch live?

Looks you can... I was able to click back to today's earlier top 32 rounds in the livestream. And the main page had a link to yesterday's qualifying rounds so if today's event is no longer livestreaming you should be able to access the non-live video later.

Maybe being there is great.. Watching it on this live feed.. Sucks.. I understand why it's not mainstream.. Wow the commentators are horrible, way to much wait time between the action.... It's hard to stay awake.. But like I said I bet being there would totally change my mind
