Stock speakers wearing out already? Crackle and pop! A few questions as well...
Hi,
I'm more of a vintage home stereo audiophile so i don't know much about the speaker, amps and wattage applied to cars overall (I also noticed the car world of speakers is bit different then the home stereo world...). But anyways, back to the topic on hand. So i'm about 17,000mi on the car and recently i keep hearing the speakers crackling. I believe its come from the tweeter, though sometimes it comes from the main speaker as well. I have the stock Pioneer head unit. I don't play my music loud, the loudest i'll go is about 34 volume because most of my old school death metal demos have really low volume transferred to MP3's. I mostly have the EQ of treble on 1 and bass on 1, that's the only variation i put on the speaker, i mostly play through the Aux with my Ipod classic and once in a while use the CD if the ipod is dead. Now i did read on here you can go to the dealer and address the problem to them but there seems to be a 50/50 chance they'll fix it or not...assuming the problem will pop its head out when i bring it there. But i have an other idea, would it be a better idea to possibly just upgrade the speakers my self? I'm not looking to add anything, just keeping the same speaker sizes and replacing them with better quality units, is that possible? I'm assuming i would have to run a new head unit as well? Thanks! |
If the speakers have failed, just have them replace those under warranty.
Now I went ahead and ordered the OEM Audio+ system and it completely revamps the audio system. Worth every single penny of its seemingly high price. The system replaces only the tweeters with a higher quality one that is able to supply the crispest of sounds from guitar twang etc. and comes with a sub and amp which is tuned for sound perfection. If you haven't listened to it you have to. Just my 2¢ |
I've noticed my speakers not sounding to hot lately as well. Though, that's probably because I listen to them pretty loud haha. I've only hit 1,600miles on the car too :P
