CAMS have officially Log Booked the 86 as a 3E Production Race Car

Hi all,

For those and I know there were a couple who were contemplating building an 86 / BRZ as a race car.. The fight with CAMS is now over.. the 000 Racing 86 GTS and the Pedders 86 GTS have both been granted a log book to run as Series Production cars in the Australian Manufacturers Championship.

I think this had bearing on improved production cars and Production Rally as well so the path is now open :)

We are racing the #86 86 at Eastern Creek on Sat and Sunday 20th and 21st for round two of the State Championship.. still no tune in it but we will see how it goes on a tighter track.. pop in and say hi

When does the Australian Manufacturers Championship start? And do you know if it will be broadcast on Free to air TV?

Strange, Pedders have had their coilovers out for some time for the 86/BRZ with the extreme xa coilover

That racecar is how they're developing their coilovers with remote reserve and full adjustability. Locally. So yeah, keep an ear on 'em. I'll let you know when I find out more about their full kit.

Yep I know they are working on a kit but they use a revamped OS kit.. I am not sure they are there yet.. I know they struggled with set up ... I am sure they will though.

I am leaving mine for a few months until I find a kit at a reasonable cost with most of the bugs ironed out.. I don't want to be the lead on everything with 86 race cars as it gets too expensive. My thoughts with the BC's were:
1. At 1200- they are cheap with top camber plates and some adjustment.
2. If you look at their build quality on a Youtube clip they are made with a high degree of precision .. I am sure they were not 5 years ago though !
3. The car is so well balanced and the handling is such that you can get away with something lesser that the very expensive (5k +)
4. If I break a corner I can get another pair or set for 600 or 1200.. with some other options it could be a month to get another at 1200 for a corner !

It really is a matter of affordability V performance and what your prepared to sacrifice. After Bathurst it's too early to say but if Eastern Creek goes ok then I can put some development $$$ into a tune, new clutch and diff .. again it's a matter of priorities.

I would not bag out any product unless I thought they were dangerous or simply a fraud..

I think it is healthy for race teams to develop in different directions ... eventually everyone falls into line on set up and equipment types.

It is a revamp of an O/S kit, but the final version will be based off their finished gear, apparently. We'll soon see. And yeah, it's good that they're logbooked now. can only mean good things!
