Borla UEL flange, more in common with a pretzel then a flange.

Get I'm UEL installed today, Rich @flatfour looked at it and said just that, the flange had more in common with a pretzel than a flange, 1/16th gap difference from the sides to the center, he's running it to a fabricator to see if there's enough meat to make it a flange.

@2forme see ur not the only one taking it in the keester

@Chris@Phastek just FYI. Might wanna check ur stock.

2forme 04-12-2013 02:24 PM

I don't have a Borla haha.

BorLOL?

SmsAlSuwaidi 04-12-2013 03:38 PM

They did discuss that issue and it's covered by their warranty. You should go ahead and contact them and I'm sure they will be more than happy to send you a replacement or fix it

FR-S Matt 04-12-2013 03:59 PM

I'd get a refund and get a RevWorks.

Replacement will likely be warped as well. There is another revised production run that should be completed in a few weeks, request an updated header replacement when the production run is complete.

Or, head over to the ft86speedfactory review thread where I flattened my flanges with a shop press lol

Yeah Erich's machinist took care of it, sounds beautiful, and the cf driveshaft makes shifts like butter, it's quite nice.

Couldn't you grind the flanges flush or would that take too many man hours?

There is no reason you should have to modify a 650 part to make it fit. It should bolt up from factory. Especially headers.

Hi all.

As with most companies, we only maintain a small stock at our local location. We reserve these for local installs primarily. The flanges on the ones shipped here were checked. For the vehicles we have installed them on, we have redone visual inspections for leaks.

The items that drop ship from another location (distributor or Borla) are in the hands of general workers.

We have informed them to pay extra attention to this. Our distributor is aware of the problem and is willing to take additional action if required, however Borla has assumed full responsibility thus far and taken action to correct any problems.

Feel free to contact me or Borla.

I do apologize for this originally unforeseen issue.

In no way does this fall onto phastek, this is borlas QA issue. Phastek has been nothing but the highest customer satisfaction, the parts I bought direct from phastek arrived in an astonishing 20 hour window, for them to be in Texas and me in PA, I'm guessing they tied it to a Pegasus and stuffed a fairy in its tail pipe to get it that fast.

Nothing but love for @Chris@Phastek and if anyone took it to mean I blamed them for this then they are extremely wrong.

Got the crank pully on, cf driveshaft, perrin cat back, and with a slight modification the borla UEL, no check engine light yet but I know it's coming. Car sounds beautiful and with the reduction of rotational weight is quite noticeable, the cf driveshaft makes even hard lauches feel soft, it feels weird like your loading up a rubber band then letting it go, quite nice.

PhastekSport 04-12-2013 05:47 PM

Okay, I cannot lie. The header did ship from your own state of PA :-).

You know you can reach me anytime @Adeets!

F1point4 04-12-2013 06:38 PM

@Chris@Phastek did me a solid and let me use the lift to visually check for leaks. After almost 1 month of driving I'm happy to say/think I have none

We didn't pull the header to check for flatness. I imagine if mine wasnt flat I'd see black soot everywhere.

Another local guy here checked his reinstall and said his were flat.
