I'm always interested in more pictures of the FT86

Very cool this means we gonna be seeing more photos soon

I like how they keep pushing the AE86 connection/heritage of this car. Hopefully the engineering department is on the same page as the marketing department -- is well aware of its heritage and stays true to it

I like everyone sticking to their guns about this being a successor to the Celica...
Not sure how that makes sense when Toyota's marketing it alongside the ae86... and it has 86 in the name.. and Toyota's hinted at this thing being a drifter, right? What car in Toyota's lineup is known for being a drift car?
Not flaming. Just chuckling at how badly some people want this thing to be a Celica, they're willing to ignore all evidence against it.

That's what I was thinking...with the 86 in the name and all the PR surrounding it's heritage with drifting and the Corolla...how could this thing not be called a Corolla GT or Corolla Coupe?? Maybe along with a redesigned Corolla sedan with similar design cues? It would be dumb imo to call this new car a Celica when it's pointing straight at the Corolla of the early 80s as it's forefather :iono:

You and me both.

But at the very least it won't be called a 'Corolla', nor should it be. That would be a massive marketing mistake on Toyota's part that would really hinder possible sales. The Corolla lineup just isn't known for being sporty.

I suspect the car will get a completely new name, never before used in the U.S. market. Will it be a name that hints back to the AE86? Who knows...as for me, I certainly hope it does.

There you go again trying to throw facts into the conversation, lol.

Since when have little things like facts ever stopped people from believing in anything. That's why it's called FAITH brother. We believe it will be named celica, in the US at least, despite any evidence or facts to the contrary. ;)
