Why is Whiteout FRS So Popular?
Why? is White a sports car color? I would expect Firestorm or Raven to be the most popular color for this car but I seen 4 FRS on the streets where I live and 2 are white! hell even the copilation thread here has Whiteout up by like 20 pages on the next closest.

Because $220.

white just looks nicer on most cars. this car also looks cool in asphalt and hot lava imo.
|
I just like the white metallic pearl color, it does compliment the car IMHO better. Though it's always a matter of opinion.
Also -- white cars hold their value better, from what i've researched in the past. |
Can't go wrong with pearl white! :)
|
its the fastest color
|
I actually could not decide, I had each color written on paper and in a hat. I did a best out of 5, white won. I would have done ANY color to be 100% truthfull.

White is such a good color to show of the lines in a car.

I have raven. When looking at any sort of mod, whether aero or mechanical the vendors always have whiteout. Doesn't take much to transform an already beautiful car to a show car or aggressive looking track car. Made me develop a slight case of whiteout envy.
|
i still can't decide between whiteout and firestorm. If it wasn't pearl, i would probably go with white. aaaaaahhhh can't make up my mind!

White also makes a small car look bigger.

Plus, pearl hides a lot of the dirt and is astonishing under sunlight! IMHO, I would not want a white if it was not pearl. WRB was my next preference. |
It's a classic color and the pearl in these makes it that much better. And this coming from a Firestorm owner. BTW, white was the only color Triumph offered in every year of TR6 production. Like I said, "classic color".
And I also believe the twins are the only cars I have ever seen that look good in every color offered. Think about that for a minute because it's not like that with other makes and models. Sure, everyone has a preference but I think most would agree that they all look good. |
Pearl white is a really nice color. I had the same color on my STI. Really it just comes down to preference.
|
White is the most popular color on vehicles sold in North America, if not most of the world. Therefore it makes sense that you'll see more whiteout than anything else.

mr leno explains it in this video
[ame]http://youtu.be/tYKpOnHGL5s[/ame] cliff notes.....colors take away from body lines and lets face it, the 86 has sexy lines |
Personally, I think white should be left to work vans and camcords, but the car looks pretty good in any of the colors.

B/c race car.

White is one of the most popular colors for cars in general. There are several articles that touch on that. This article elaborates a little bit as to why:

Three letters...JDM! It's sexy!
|
It is because so many work trucks/vans: carpenters, farm, electrician, plumber, government, road construction and the like are white. It seems like almost every F-150 & Cheyenne truck I see is white.
If you drive a white truck you will gravitate to a white car. |
Because INITIAL D!

No offense to any whiteout owners though if I pull up to you thinking you're a cute chick. Still a nice a color haha |
This is my only reason for second guessing white, the popularity. I have seen a few of these cars in person and white always seems to be the color I see.
|
I almost regret going with Whiteout, only because of the popularity. It's my favorite color for this car, but I want something more unique. Oh well.
|
It's a Toyota, if it came in beige that would be the most popular color.
You don't buy a Toyota/non-STI-Subaru to stand out; hence the unpopularity of Hot Lava. Boring color for a boring auto manufacturer. |
The white one had MT.
The orange and gray ones had AT. That day on the lot. |

I would have been more interested in the white if it weren't pearl. I'm not sure if they're having an issue with the FR-S, but I have seen several pearl white cars from other manufacturers where the bumpers don't quite match the sheetmetal. I have no idea if the issues were caused by the flex agents in the paint or the materials themselves not playing well with pearl white, but it's a nasty look when it happens and I wanted to stay away. -Justin |
White pairs well with almost any other highlight color you want to add. If decals and plastidipped wheels are you thing white is going to be a good start. Black is good like this too but any actual color (hot lava, firestorm, ultramarine) limits your options. Plus I think people like white and silver because it's harder to see rock chips and scratches.

The Pearl white just feels like a premium. It's offered at a Premium price, it was the most demand, had the longest waiting list since it was most desired. Feels like when you can go pearl white, its a nice upscale when a lot of cars in the price segment or below only come in "gloss." There's a connotation that only luxury or special cars get the pearl white treatment.
It's not the case today though. Many ecoboxes are now offered in pearl white, but the connotations are still there. |
