The best looking white cars I've ever known in my personal opinion are these beauties. GT-350, High Tech White AE86, Ford GT and pace car 69 Camaro. I almost forgot the dove white ZL1 69 Camaro and 70 Challenger from Vanishing Point. In general few cars look good in white but these are among the best IMO.. I've seen other performance cars in white but these stand out to me the most.

I chose a white one because I've had a black car and it's harder to maintain it's beauty. I admit, black is one of the most beautiful colors on a car if I can keep it clean. :)

I also had a red car and wanted to try something new with the white. I also enjoy the Ultramarine, but I don't see many of those. I love how it looks black at night, but it's a nice deep blue during the day.

Is there a list of the percentage of these cars made along with the colors?

I'm willing to bet that SWP/Whiteout is the most made color and therefore the most common. People also like white, I don't really like it...but it's better than black and silver which were the other options that I had.

*sigh*

Can't fault that logic.

My order was for Asphalt until I saw the Whiteout in person and under sunlight. During the First 86 trip, I think most of us thought it was just going to be a plain gloss white (like fleet/work vehicles), but after seeing the pearl paint in person, many of us switched over.

My personal reasons:
  • Better visibility to other cars at night than darker colors like black, blue, or gray
  • Gives the car a classy, up-market look
  • Negligible cost to upgrade
  • Hides dirt well

Scott

hmm, this seems like a good debate.

New thread with pics?

White paint on cars always looks good on sports cars because of one reason. CONTRAST!

Sports cars typically have interesting body lines that can be hidden or detracted from with other colors because shadows don't show as obviously on reds blues or blacks, as well as on white. It makes the door, hood, trunk, and body panel seams stand out more giving more for the eyes to look at. Then theres the contrast between weels and tires, the darkness of the cabin, and any other black trim piece. White appeals to car guys and gals senses because we see more of the design on a white car. Yellow is another great color for contrast but it's too "loud" for most people. Silver would be good but often times silvers and metallic colors drown out some of lines of a car due to the viewing angle.

I used to be a black car kinda guy, but now I am a huge fan of White...although this silver is growing on me...

The other thing to consider is that White is Japan's color from the early days of international racing (before sponsors). So white is often the color they choose for demo/tester cars. Strange in this case, because most of the press cars seem to be red or hot lava.

That's exactly why I went with whiteout. Low maintenance.

Darn all of you lol. I originally wanted white then started to see all the white cars on the forums and in pics so I was like i need a different color. Reading through this thread it just seems to point out nothing but supporting reasons to get a white one again.

I'm not being racist. I'm Asian myself.
I think this car should be painted in yellow because it's an Asian car.
