Cheap Brake kits worth it or not?
Here are some links to cheap brake kits that will fit our cars. Looking for input on any experience people have had with them. I am pretty much set on the Stop Tech OEM replacement kit because I am not all that serious with tracking and AutoX I just to it for fun and not really to compete so that kit will work for me. I have seen a bunch of people spending serious money on BBK and wondering if this cheap kit is safe and dependable. I have seen the Bear and Wilwood kits and they both look really solid for the money.

Please check out this FT86 brake upgrade guide I put together. It breaks down the various upgrade options.
Assuming your stock discs are fine, you'd be better off just skipping the aftermarket discs until the stockers crack or wear thin. You won't really gain any benefits for what you're doing with the car, other than that they look cooler with slots or drill holes. Get a good set of high performance pads, and consider some stainless steel brake lines. If you never plan to do anything but street driving, you don't even really need to worry about brake fluid for a while. A good set of pads (Ferodo DS2500 front for example...and DS2500 rear) will cost you about $300 and give you what you're looking for...more bite, better feel, higher heat capacity for sport driving, ability to AutoX on them if you ever decide to, etc. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in having me help get you set up with something. Thanks and good luck. |
