for socal (405/605fwy) people. does the HD Radio kick in and out often?

i drove the car without an antenna because i couldn't find it then when i did, i was hoping the reception would improve but it seems to still kick in and out often, almost all the time when i pass under a bridge!

are any of the aftermarket antennas stronger?

Noob4Life 04-10-2013 04:53 AM

From norcal not socal and my hd kicks in and out like every 1-2 minutes. No exaggeration. I finally got so tired of it that it motivated me to put songs on my phone and go bt lol

Does it turn on / off... or can you actually hear it get noticeably quieter? If the later, I noticed that issue when I was driving a friend's Camry with HD radio, drove me insane!

I don't really notice but I have a shark fin antenna so it probably doesn't, but I do remember it used to kick in n out a couple of times when I had my oem antenna. I mostly just listen to my BT Audio though.

This happens to me quite a bit on the 405 between Santa Monica Blvd. and the 101.

It happens to me the farther I travel South.

Yeah, and it's annoying. I wish you could turn off the HD all together, just to avoid the volume change. I can live without HD sound on the radio.

You can. It's in the radio settings.

I've never had a problem with Bluetooth. HD radio is just a reception thing.

I noticed if I have my phone on my lap (not sure if charging has anything to do with it, I have a charger connected to the car charger not the usb that is always connected when I am in the car) it will sometimes do that, if I leave it on the passenger seat it doesn't or very very very rarely... happened like once. So I am assuming.... bad bluetooth connection?
