[SYD] McGard Steel Lug Nuts (tapered seat) - fits 86/Subaru/Nissan/Suzuki

For sale: (NSW) McGard Acorn Steel Lug Nuts (tapered seat) - fits 86/Subaru/Nissan/Suzuki

Best quality nuts you'll ever use. Stay away from aluminium for heavy track duty. These will outlast your car and can be used with an impact many times over and won't ever strip or round your nuts. I've had these on my old car and it shat all over my Rays Duralumin nuts. I abuse my nuts usually as I use an impact often when switching track wheels and street wheels. These are the strongest aftermarket nuts (and probably better than OEM) you'll find.

still for sale. good for those who after absolute quality (unlike cheap nuts than can strip or peel and shear your stud thread). Also good if you hate lock nuts like I do when you need to change wheels quickly at the track without fumbling around and switching sockets back and forth.

Why?

Because theyre terrible at handling repeated heat cycles without loosening. I've had to retorque mine between every track session so thats about 6 times during one event. And they were very loose mind you, that to me is enough of a concern when you are pushing the limits of your car.

You could argue if you're diligent and torque properly every session, you'll be fine. But maybe you forget sometimes so is it worth the risk to save a few grams that is so close to the spinning center of the wheel anyway? Having said that you should always check torque regardless if steel or aluminium just as safety precaution.

Ummmm... This is just based on my experience. I have not yet bought aftermarket nuts (they're on the list) so i have been using the original nuts to put my track wheels on (and off) at the track. I have never had a loose nut (we are talking about cars here) when removing the track wheels and I thought the original nuts were aluminium alloy.

I'm not suggesting steel isn't a good idea but I'm just wondering about the justification for them.

Thats because as far as i'm aware, the stock nuts are steel. Most stock OE nuts are steel and ive assumed the same of this car as well.
