Mustang GT Sound Tube installed
Basically plugs right in. The tubing diameter doesn't scale down towards the firewall like the stock one does. The tubing is all plastic vs. rubber on half of the stock one and the Diaphragm in the (I don't know what to call it really) sound generator is very pliable when you stick your finger in there (vs. the rigid hard stock diaphragm).
I experienced this sound tube uncorked (2 foam pieces removed) installed on a V6 mustang (he also adapted it from the GT) and was blown away by the sound so the gears in my head started churning lol... Just wanted to try an experiment with getting more/different induction noise without spending 300-500 on a CAI (I plan on FI sometime down the road so it made no sense to buy an intake just yet). Taken with my iphone 4s. It is not the greatest recorder for this but you can kinda get an idea of what it sounds like. This thing sounds beastly!!! Sounds similar to what my CSL airbox sounded like on my MZ4! [ame]http://youtu.be/B71MS0cNrjA[/ame] (I have the stock resonators removed too - this by itself did not do much to the sound or I could not hear the difference because of my louder exhaust) I'll take some pictures of it on my car in a bit. Here is the sound tube: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11...s/photo1-2.jpg |
I had a 11 gt, and removed the 2 foam sound reducers in the stock tube. I was wondering if something similar was in our sound tubes?

Installed the resonators back in and that quiet ended it down a bit. It's more even throughout the rev range.

Sounds great! Enhances feel

You can hear it on-track. Sounded great out there! |

ok...now you have me wondering what a stainless steel or another random material would sound like for a "aftermarket" sound tube. I know its kind of silly --- but now I am very curious (for the whole tube not just the plugs; i know there is a DIY and TRD kit for that part)

This is funny. I plugged mine in the footwell.

Here are some better videos of it just accelerating on the streets. Man it sounds GOOD!
[ame]http://youtu.be/HeWeUOLtYE4[/ame] [ame]http://youtu.be/1WP4qrMN9us[/ame] I highly recommend this over the stock one (if you are the type of guy who wants to keep the sound tube). It gives you the sound of ITB's enclosed in a carbonfiber manifold. Who doesn't want that? LOL Ya it is cheating a bit but there are no CA legal intakes (yet) and perhaps you are going to go FI in the future so a CAI is not in the cards for you. I gave a fellow FR-S driver a ride today and he was pretty blown away by the sound. =) |
make one out of brass and get a trumpet happening in there
