Rust spots of doom

So im going to the dealer on Friday, I have tiny rust spots forming all over my front and back bumper as well as a few spots on my roof. I know they said the paint was bad, but sheesh! Hopefully I won't get a run around like some of my other issues.

Anyone else having issues with these small rust spots. It's like rust was sprinkled all over the place. Damn you rust god!

How long have you had the car?

Is your car white? My white civic had that pop up. It wasn't rust, but some kind sap or something that buffed out. If it's on the bumper cover it's definitely not rust.

Rail dust. Have your dealer do a chemical bath.

Whiteout, ive had it since July, the rust is on the front bumper, roof and back bumper around the license plate /trunk as well as the back areas of the bumper. I would take a picture but they are pretty small. There are a few larger spots, especially on the roof.

I tried to buff the hell out of them and they wouldnt come out, plus im not really around trees very much.

Any (key word any) car that is transported by rail road is going to have a certain amount of rail dust settle on their car. After a period of time those little tiny specks of metal dust will rust because of being exposed to moisture. It is on all cars but only particularly noticeable on white cars. Your dealer is well aware of what this is and they could have taken care of it when the car was prepped for delivery. However, it seems a lot of dealers figure the problem will just go away and the poor owner will handle the problem. Take it back to the dealer and have them give it a chemical wash that will remove all the dust/rust. They know what it is and it won't harm the finish of your car.

Will it be opticoat friendly?

Also there are a few spots where it looks like the rust has eaten in deep on the roof....sigh

Rust on paint. What's under the paint doesn't matter. If you read the whole thread you'll understand.

Totally rail dust.

If the dealer is going to charge you for to get it removed, you're better off clay barring your car completely and waxing it. Iron X will do the same on removing contaminants from the car. Even after you remove those rust bloom spots, it will come back. Keeping your car washed/waxed will keep most of em off your car.

Well i had originally had the car claybar, and waxed/polished and opticoated, so that sucks...
