the ring was the longest part and i was REALLY close to just saying fuck it. I just used painters tape and very precisely went around the ring.

Great job! Painter's tape is what I am planning on doing too. I just thought you may have done it differently or had an easier way of creating a ring since it looks so proportional. Any tips before I do my headlights?

dont be afraid to stick them back in the oven to re-seal them, probably the most important step. that and start early.

Haha! I have baked and painted headlights several times before so I have experience in that. Sorry, what meant to say was any tips on how to make the ring proportional when taping?
