Can you imagine a top speed record run in an original AE86? That would be down right scuicidal.

I think what the OP is doing is legitament and important to the car's mystique (obviously given that this is a legitamet record attempt on off-road/flats/airport,etc.)

This twin's chassis & suspension gives excellent stability at high speeds, I think it could easily handle 160+. Something I would never want to do in a Miata. I wouldn't want to do high speed in other cars the twins draw comparison's to like the DC2 Integra, S2K. 240SX. I'd even take this chassis at those speeds over the Genesis and Mustang.

This thread hits at one of the important aspects of the Toyobura Chassis that has been overlooked, it has Grand Touring/Autbahn qualities not found typical jumpy lightweight sports cars.

A bonus that the ultra low cog has given us is that this car is just as comfortable cruising 85 mph on an empty moonlit interstate as it is swinging thru the cliche' Miata's hilly twisty's. This is a very special car.

I agree with Regal 100% and I just would like to point out that this is a daily driven car. Unfortunately I havent been in the country to get it ready for this but Im not a shop, nor sponsored, Im just a normal guy that wants to see what it can do. Eventually the car will get a lot more upgrades but as I am currently building a monster Supra... time and money are factors. However this car is amazing and even in stock form impressed the hell out of me. Its a new platform, and no one seems to be interested in its top end. The Supercharged cars and stockers are going for lap times and auto-x glory, and the turbo'd guys are getting their 1/4 mile times dialed in and that is awesome. Im just trying to see what else these amazing twins are capable of.

And yes I plan on doing it at the Ohio standing mile. So it will not be on moonlit interstate with cops, deer, and traffic.

I wish you well in your attempt to set a new land speed record for a BRZ.

The Ohio Mile (the old Wright-Patterson AFB) is about 15 miles from where I was born & raised. Its 9,000 ft. concrete runway would be much better than the salt flats (which have a slower surface).

Gear limited? So, your car has an OEM MT transmission and rear end. If so, according to my figuring, it would be gear limited to about 175 MPH. However, witha 3:7 to1 (or higher) rear end, it would allow the car to go at least 200 MPH.

Power limited? If your BRZ develops 300 WHP @ 7,600 rpms, with the following factors in play (air density of 1.2, Cd of .28 and a frontal area of 2.3 sq. m), it would be power limited to about 185 mph.

WOW – now that’s close to 200 MPH and would establish a good baseline.

How to get to 200 MPH? It would seem that the wheel HP would have to be increased or the drag decreased. I would vote to try to do both through a more aggressive tune on the engine and/or some aero modifications.

OR, use a figure for the frontal area of 1.8 sq. m (which may be more accurate), which would give a calculated top speed of 202 MPH.

Much appreciated for all of the support. My current plan is to go for the "Drive it to redline and see how fast it goes" approach, haha. In any case, I appreciate you doing the ground work and the first half of the scientific method. Now I will go and test it and then we can all analyze what we find, haha.

^...........if my frontal area calculation is too conservative and you do exceed 200 mph, be advised that "lift off" on that old airstrip is 205 mph .....:laughabove:
