Depends on the color of the car.

For Ultramarine, silver wheels. Not chrome or anything shine, just silver painted wheels.

Black wheels don't contrast the car well...

NickFRS 04-08-2013 11:01 PM

I had black on my Asphalt and had to change to glossy white.... Car pops now! Panda status... I'm not a fan of black wheels though. Always look dirty n hard to take night shots of the car.

I couldn't agree more.

I find the silver plays nicely with the silver badging as well.

Killerbee 04-09-2013 07:26 AM

I do love white wheels, however I cant be bothere to keep them clean :-)

Otherwise I'm a fan of any non shiny version of silver to dark gray (including gunmetal and stuff)
I dont like black wheels at all, however on my white GT86 I'm going to try them out, as they may work on white. Otherwise repainting it to something else

whaap 04-09-2013 08:55 AM

I've been around cars long enough to remember that if you saw a car with black wheels that meant the owner had lost his hub caps. If you say anything resembling gold that meant the guy was a pimp. I did like the white wheels on my 911 but I still prefer chrome.

There aren't that many 80-year-olds dealing drugs.

:D

For me it depends on the color of the vehicle.

Times change?
Blingy bathroom chrome wheels were all the rage at ones stage too?

90's no?

Chee-Hu 04-09-2013 06:19 PM

Most of my cars have been red with the exception of a silver RSX. With red cars, it never fails that I slap bronze on them.

I like gunmetal grey... or at least by themselves that's what I like.

Speaking of which, got any suggestions for wheel color that would go well with an DGM BRZ?

Not a fan of super bright stuff such as white or silver etc... but hesitant regarding black, feel like it'd be too dark.

Oh if I'm hijacking, forgive me, i'll move it elsewhere, just let me know!

sierra 04-10-2013 09:27 PM

I like silver wheels for the pearl white.
Anything dark just seems to merge and look like a dark hole while white clashes with the pearl.

DGM/Asphalt is one of the hardest colors to work with as far as wheels go. Maybe grey/gunmetal? That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Maybe black with a polished lip, like the Enkei RSM9s.

No, just not really a fan of colored wheels in general. I don't even like white or bronze, honestly.

dori. 04-10-2013 10:40 PM

Not 'angry' mad, 'crazy' mad.

I have to ask, what DO you like then? Just silver and black?

MVJ1975 04-10-2013 10:48 PM

Silver, black, gunmetal/grey, possibly gun blue (on certain cars/colors), gold (on WRB only), some two-tone types. This is in general. There are exceptions, but they're exceptions and not the rule.

Really obnoxious wheel colors, to me, need an obnoxious color car to go along with them.

ETA: White and bronze I'm kinda torn on. It's not that I don't like them, I just find myself going back and forth on them. White/White sometimes looks good, but at times seems like too much white. Red/White sometimes makes me think it's Christmas, and at times I like it. I'm definitely crazy, though, so there's that.

OmarGC 04-10-2013 11:26 PM

White on gold or bronze = sexier then wrb on gold

rainmonkey 04-10-2013 11:38 PM

saw someone post a gunmetal blue set of wheels (on his firestorm frs i think) but... it kinda just looked like grey to me... am I colorblind or was that not a good representation of it?

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32916

MVJ1975 04-10-2013 11:44 PM

Gunmetal/gun blue is one of those colors that tends to vary. In some cases it's just grey, but in others it can have a slight or even strong blue cast.

PrDarkKnight 04-10-2013 11:45 PM

depends on the color of the car. but i like to go unique

Panda yo

MVJ1975 04-11-2013 12:48 AM

Okay, I'll add Asphalt/White to the list of combinations I like. That looks good.

OICU812 04-11-2013 12:50 AM

HANDS DOWN "ANTHRACITE" finish by Niche. I do not own any of their wheels, none of their wheels do it for me. But Anthracite is an amazing finish that goes with anything it seems.

If you get a chance to see that finish in person, it is truly a color/finish IMO that goes with anything.

m.wood0213 04-11-2013 12:51 AM

Gold on a WRB BRZ
