RCE yellows review

I had the RCE yellows installed today. I passed on having the Koni inserts installed since I might upgrade my car once the BRZ STI version or either the 2014/15 WRX comes out. In either case, I would probably trade my car in and want to be able to bring it back to stock before doing so.

Anyhow, as for the review, the RCE springs eliminate the busy "pogo bouncing" that the car displayed prior to this install. The cars handling feels calmer, tighter and in more continuous contact with the road. The ride is not harsh at all, I find it to be wayyyyy better than stock. I am surprised these springs (by themselves) improved on the driving and handling dynamics of the car so much. To be honest, I was afraid that I would end up getting a brick ride or mismatched shock spring conflict, but I am pleased to say my fears were quickly quelled. I just wanted to pass this info along in case someone else is on the fence about upgrading their springs. And no, I am not associated with RCE in any way, other than being a happy customer. :happy0180:

I am getting my RCE's installed on Friday so it is nice to hear someone else that passed on the Koni's getting a positive result. Can't wait to have mine on.

I installed the RCE springs on Saturday. I have to agree with your review 100%. I was shocked these helped the ride so much. I was a little hesitant to alter the front/rear rate balance that much but I am really glad I did.

Has anyone installed these springs and not been competely satisfied? Is anyone finding that their scraping too much now? Any squeaks or rattles? Springs moving if the car goes to full droop while driving? Unpredictable bump steer? Anything at all?

I know you are looking for negative info but I can't give you any. The car is only 3/4" lower so scraping shouldn't be an issue unless you go full speed into a steep driveway head on. Squeaks or rattles are only an issue if you incorrectly disassemble or reassemble something. The car rides a bit better so if anything, you'll have less rattles inside. I don't think the springs are short enough (vs stock) to cause movement at full droop. I also don't know how you could go full droop driving a BRZ, lol. Bump steer? no way. But I'm sure if you have it aligned badly it could happen.

I was looking into these as well, but I thought I saw recently that RCE was releasing coils soon, I can't wait to see a review of those.

Just to confirm, are these the springs you have? http://ft86speedfactory.com/racecomp...rings-475.html

I purchased my springs from this link. I am assuming they are the same ones you are referring to.

I can't wait to get these installed when I get my car! I mainly got them to get rid of the wheel gap, while retaining the stock struts, but it's awesome to see that they really help the ride.

Yep they're the same, thank you sir! :thanks:

Can't really go wrong with any RCE products; the R&D that goes into their product is amazing. Now, if they can hurry up with the front camber plates!!! I need moar negative camber in my life dammit!

has anyone gotten the springs installed at RCE? I was thinking of buying their springs and having them installed but not sure how much it would be.

stockysnail 04-06-2013 04:08 PM

I currently have the Eibach Pro-Kit and if I can get a local guy to buy them I will be trying these out instead as teh Pro-Kit adds a little bit of bounce and these sound like the don't. I guess that's because the Eibach is a progressive spring and the RCE Yellow isn't?

I got a quote today to get my RCE starter kit lite installed and aligned. $700. That seems pretty damn expensive to me. For those that had someone else install, what did you guys pay?
