Lame....I checked mine before taking it in...was fine....I would have called scion to bitch

I did, I told them I've been changing my oil on this car for 2 years and previously change the oil on my past cars for 3 years I always tighten the oil filter. There is something else that occurred.

I just got a call from the Collision specialist who has my FRS, they said that there was oil coming from the rear of the engine nothing coming from the oil filter area.

If 6 of the 6 cars you have driven have the noise, then it most likely is NOT a problem, and there is nothing to "find a solution" to.

"Every time I turn the key to start the engine, the Car makes this sort of rumbling nosie and starts vibrating. This continues until I shut it off."

Slightly unrelated but - Whenever one of my kids would hurt themselves (grand-kids now) and would come crying, I would always ask "Well did any blood come out?".
If the answer was "No" we would just rub it and make it better :-)

If the oil spilled out, that is bad.

Just curious. Why does a Collision Specialist have your car for an engine issue?

The toyota tech asked if I was in any type of accident, I told him that 2 - 3 weeks ago my passenger side tires accidentally rolled over something in the middle of the road, I didn't see any damage to the body when I inspected the car when I got to work and I didn't see any damage. They told me to open a collision report, they said rolling over this object "could loosen the oil filter".

Wow that would be quite the object too roll over. That is some strange logic they threw out there. They do realize the filter is on top right?

I bet they don't or they would not have made such a statement. The object must have reached up, caught the filter on top of the engine, and spun it loose. Happens all the time.

Just got the word back that Subaru is covering my repair. they did not go into detail on the extent of the damage. I do not think they have ripped it apart yet. I will report back when I get the detail of the repairs....

BRZnut 07-09-2015 11:36 PM

That's great news. Did you do your oil changes and just show then the receipts for the oil? They were ok with that?
