http://content.worldcarfans.co/2013/...1293873502.jpg http://content.worldcarfans.co/2013/...1569343619.jpg Hyundai has presented the HND-9 Concept at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show this week. Conceived as a preview for the next-gen Genesis Coupe, the firm's ninth concept (hence the designation) measures 4,695mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,340mm tall, with a 2,860mm wheelbase. Its dramatic styling represents an evolution of the Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy and brings an elongated hood, powerful character lines, butterfly doors and a hexagonal-shaped grille. It rides on 22-inch alloys made with carbon materials and has dual exhausts on both sides. The interior was developed to provide a luxurious and modern driving experience, with sporty seats which project different colors depending on the angle these are seen from. The high-tech interface is driver-oriented and has been modeled after a cockpit. The rear-wheel drive coupe is powered by a 3.3-liter GDI turbocharged engine producing 362 bhp (270 kW) linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Source: Hyundai |
Front looks good but the rear is um...interesting looking. It looks like the roof line and wheels resembles a GTR. Interesting placement for the side mirrors too.

Good looking concept!!

Aston Martin Vanquish + Lexus LF-LC + Jaguar F-Type + Chevrolet Corvette Singray + Saab Aero-X = Hyundai HND-9
But of course I exagertate. It is a nice car. I'd say that is it is the Hyundai Genesis Coupé replacement preview. |
Looks and sounds like they are going bigger and heavier with more luxury features. That will move them even further away from the light and sporty market that the twins now occupy.
|
I really like this concept and wish some manufacturer would say screw practicality and make this thing exactly as is. Sadly Hyundai will screw it up slap it on a crappy platform and make another mediocre car. But hey it's the thought that counts right?!?

Looks nice, but are Hyundai simply abandoning the sport market? It looks like a big, heavy car and the 3.3l and auto trans are things more aimed at the G37 than the FT86. As long as their sedans remain large and they are determined to share parts, the Gen coupe will stay fat.

I believe this is inevitable for the Genesis to get bigger since it shares it chassis with a 4 door family variant. And as research would have it, those types of cars get larger by the years.
I read up on the HND-9 Concept design study and its pretty good, and made the obvious choices when considering standardized safety features into the design, as seen on several other makers. Good for them! but IRL i fear their target market is being miscalculated and the cohesiveness of the Genesis Image is coming apart. |
To me it looks like the Lexus LF-LC and Nissan EsFlow fucked and had this thing.

Yeah, I know the coupe will grow with the sedan. I would have hoped that the success of the 86 would have inspired them in the other direction. -Justin |
Nice concept. Too much back end imo. I had to squint to see if those were the side mirrors but I kinda like where it's located.

i think the moral of the story is that just about every concept car is looking the same now. i was reminded of the things that mazda was doing but every time i see one of you make a comparison, i see that too
