TX2k13 Texas World Speedway Recap - Phastek Performance
Hey guys. After finding a little bit more media, I thought I would document my experience at Texas World Speedway in one thread.
A little bit about my background. Served 10 years in the Army and the only car that I had in the same league as the FR-S would be the MR2 Spyder w/ 2zzge motorswap (not a stock 2zz). Other than that I've spent most of my time off roading in my modified FJ Cruiser. Job wise I was Infantry and Psyop. Neither of these two jobs and the jumping out of planes adds any to being able to drive a car around a racetrack. I don't think Deal's Gap or SCCA at Royal Purple Speedway in Baytown (1 time each) could really be considered prior experience either. At Phastek, I mainly handle IT issues and the website. The opportunity to go to Texas World Speedway and not have to pay the entry fee (company expense) is something I couldn't pass up. Let's take a look at the 2.9 mile road course... http://www.parkplacemotorsports.com/...speedway_1.jpg For more information on Texas World Speedway, I suggest reading: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_World_Speedway"]Texas World Speedway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]. Naturally I was in the beginner group which did not allow passing except for on the front stretch and back stretch with a wave to the left. There were not enough transponders to go around so the Ipad in the vehicle had to do. I can see in places where it seems to lose GPS signal and then catch up. Vehicle Setup @ Time of Event
Key items to upgrade before the next event:

Just realize the obvious. You will be putting a lot more strain on the vehicle than normal. Do some brake upgrades and don't be afraid to be slower than others to learn about your car, what are the best lines, etc. There were much more powerful vehicles out there running slower. I probably pushed the vehicle too hard in the beginning when I really should have developed technique. Tony Prisk was my instructor and that helped a lot. As a fellow FR-S owner, I had a good idea of what this vehicle was capable of. |
any issues with car losing power?

Losing power?
Not that I was aware of. I should go edit the OP and add oil cooler. |
Great job out there Chris. The car looks great. Im glad you were able to take full advantage of our awesome spring kit for the FR-S.

No over heating issue with the Vortech SC?
|
Wow I was looking through subscribed threads and saw this. No over heating issues at all. I will be installing an oil cooler still.
