Oil change questions
Does Subaru offer free oil changes?
Would I be able to get it changed if its under 7500 miles? Im at 6500 Should I get it changed at a non-dealer shop? What type of oil should be used? |
Do your own oil change, it's ALWAYS free(Call your dealer if they offer free oil change). Yes you should change your break-in oil. What does the owners manual say about oil you could use for your car? the answer is on your oil cap and 5w-30
|
1. Not necessarily, but ask your dealer. If at all, just the first change.
2. You can get your oil changed anytime you want. 3. I would get the first oil change at the dealer, then from whomever you trust. 4. Type: Check owners manual: (synthetic, SAE 0W-20) The engine oil weight is also stated on the yellow engine oil fill cap) You will get further advice, I am sure. Different preferences from different people depending on how they drive their cars, racing or otherwise. Some will only change the oil themselves because they don't trust anyone else or it is cheaper or is a hobby. Others only go to a dealer. Your call if you already have your BRZ. |
I forgot to mention I will have to get it done at a different dealership from the one I bought the car from... I was told I can get it serviced at any Subaru

For question 1, doesn't every BRZ sold in the US come with the same free services? Ive seen some people here say they get 3 free oil changes so why would that change from person to person?
You should already know this. If you bought the car new from a dealer, it would be in the sales agreement. Different dealers offer different selling agreements. Subaru may have different deals in different countries. In the USA, where I purchase my BRZ, the dealer gave me the first oil change at no charge. It was just Good Will on their part. |

The three free oil change you mentioned is from Scion, the FRS guys get the free oil change, the Subaru people do not unless it was written when you signed the papers. |
Didn't know the BRZ doesnt come with any free oil changes
|
Every BRZ in the U.S. is supposed to come standard with the new Subaru Maintenance Plan. Base (included in all BRZ's) plan is two (2) years full maintennce or 24,000 Miles, which ever comes first. If the Dealer did not give it to you then you need to ask them about it. If you get no response from the dealer, then I would contact your "regional" Subaru of America office to get the matter straighted out. There may be a few dealers hoping to not get revenues from future Scheduled Service plans that they can put aside at commencement of the sale (F&I guy) renegotiate them to lesser plans (like one. I doubt very seriouslyf

I got 2 years of free oil changes for free with my BRZ. That should be standard.

I'll actually be doing the oil change myself.
I have a question though: Does Autozone sell a compatible oil filter or do I have to buy a Subaru OEM one? |
I'll actually be doing the oil change myself.
I have a question though: What aftermarket oil filter should I get? K&N or Mobil? |
