turbo kit supporting mods

so im compiling a list of things needed with a turbo kit so that when i go shop nothing gets left out, but not sure exactly what supporting mods are needed at ~290 WHP

right now i no:

1. fuel pump
2. 550cc injectors
3.clutch

the 1st two of which come with the kit. am i missing anything else (brakes will come in time anyway). just don't want to run into any surprises from sheer ignorance

i'd do 900cc+ injectors and a 4 bar map if you plan on using E85. other than that those seem to be all we really need. i'm not even entirely convinced you'd need a clutch at 290whp (would depend on the torque). i suspect they'll do a bit better on the street around that power level than they have been showing on the dyno. i'm going to test it once my kit is installed and see how long my oem clutch actually lasts in real world driving at ~230wtq.

im going 93 octane since i've never seen an E85 station in my area, but ya the clutch would b after a dyno, and if im at ~225WTQ im swapping it out b/c being right on the edge like that is just asking for trouble.

what is the difference between the 4 bar map and OEM? tried google and got nothing but shopping links

I really don't know to much about FI, but i always heard getting a better/bigger Intercooler and a free'er flowing exhaust were good mod's when going FI. Maybe even Cold Air Intakes?

well the kit comes with an intercooler (car doesnt have 1 OEM so already better lol).

exhaust is complete (forgot to mention that) minus the manifold of course since the kits come with those

and the way these turbo kits are setup most CAI out now arent compatible (so my current CAI will b a waste)

the 4 bar map sensor is (i believe) necessary to run the higher boost associated with e85. the stock one maxes out at some psi level.

Depending on the kit, I think you have everything covered.

Oh yeah, something to wipe the goofy grin off your face the first time you drive it, lol!

lbroskee 03-30-2013 03:50 PM

Perhaps oil cooler and radiator?

86pro 03-30-2013 09:56 PM

First off you need an oil catch can. Then and oil cooler. Turbo timer if your new to how turbo works, definitely a boost gauge and you should be good after your mods you listed. Radiator not really but it all depends im runnin stock one and i heard other are too.
