No Squeal Track Pad?
Is there a trackable pad that doesn't squeal for daily driving? Just occasional track days.

Xp10's are relatively quiet, but nothing is going to be completely silent.

XP8 on my miata were fine the first few days after the track. Then they started to make some noise when coming to a complete stop.
HP+ made noise on the S2000 and those aren't really a full track pad. Cobalt XR2 and XR1 made noise on the s2000, Hawk HT10 and DTC60/70 all made noise. I don't think there is such thing as a completely silent track pad that won't made noise after properly being bedded on track, but then being used for extended time on the street between track events. They will also likely dust like a mofo on the street. |
Most track pads will pass "the girl test" after proper bedding. Carbotech XP10s are our most popular pad for the FR-S/BRZ, followed by the Club Racer.

What about Carbotech XP8's. Is that enough pad for the occasional track day? I'm running Michelin Super Sports in 225/45/17 so grippier than stock but not R comps. Plus, they will be for lapping days only. No autocross or TT's
I am an active racer w/SCCA so I will drive the car hard but I also know how to be gentle(relatively speaking on brakes) |

There's no such thing as best of both worlds. Swap in/out street/track pads. You'll save more money in the long run and will totally happy with street/track performance.
fwiw, the project mu club racer pads squeak on the street, but it's not very loud. A very light mousey squeak, not ear piercing like some pads. Keep in mind that running a track pad on the street is harsh on your rotors since the pads can never get up to proper working temp. People use track pads to clear off pad deposits on the street since they are very abrasive when cold. |
IMO these pads would be about as close as you can get to a hybrid street/track pad right now:
Ferodo DS2500 CL Brakes RC5+ Endless MX72 Out of those, the Endless MX72 is the quietest. I can put any of these in your hands if you're interested.:happy0180: |
Maybe some StopTech stuff? I'm looking at a set of pads and rotors
