2014 Camaro

Reveled on Kelly & Michael????

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/26/2...ime-talk-show/

I think it actually looks worse and it doesn't look like anything was done to the interior which is the weakest part of the car.

Dadhawk 03-26-2013 04:30 PM

I like the toned down grill better, but it's hard to tell overall from the photos. I still think the body in general makes a better Firebird/TransAm than a Camaro though. Like the one from Hurst in this "we need to hire professional actors next time" ad:

Looks like they're alcantarafying everything. Oooooh boy. Alcantara doesn't hold up well to human oil, just ask my old smooth as a bar of soap steering wheel.

Meehow86 03-26-2013 05:43 PM

I like the current taillights a lot more then the refreshed ones.

Mr.Jay 03-26-2013 06:00 PM

Looks a lot worse IMHO as well

the new taillights are the extra ugly on top!

M-17 03-26-2013 10:52 PM

Wow I didn't notice the rear taillights of the Camaro. Man Chevy gone messed that up.

I agree on the tail lights, definitely like the current tail lights better.

ZDan 03-27-2013 11:12 AM

Maybe the Corvette guys insisted that the Camaro tails be redesigned to reduce complaints of "Camaro taillights" on the C7!

I like the front end better, but there's no disguising that this car is basically the 2-door version of a giant, hulking, full-sized sedan. Hoping for a much smaller, lower, lighter-weight 6th gen (but not expecting it!).

Rayme 03-27-2013 12:33 PM

GM can't mid cycle refresh properly.

m.wood0213 03-27-2013 01:14 PM

Anyone else think that this is probably another American muscle car with a POINTLESS hood scoop/vent.

NorseLegend 03-27-2013 01:29 PM

I think the front looks a lot better.....

One of the things I hate with the current Camaro is that though it looks daunting, the whole front end and really the bottom part of the car look too large for the cabin and the windows. It was just not proportional to my eye.

But yeah, those taillights they screwed up on. Fugly.

Big dumb rectangular hood vent is reportedly functional. Unlike the pointless simulated brake vents and dummy side vents on the BRZ ;)

Allch Chcar 03-27-2013 02:01 PM

I don't know if it's just the pictures or if it really does look worse than the current Camaro.

Well I think the tail lights look very wrong just looking at them on the Z/28 model but the front does not look half bad

Depends on your point of view, very few hood scoops/vents are pointless on all accounts, just not all are functional.

If functional was the only thing that makes a hood scoop not pointless, 99% of aftermarket hoods for any car (regardless of country of origin) would fall into that category.

In case you can't tell,

I love' hood scoops I cannot lie
You other drivers can't deny
That when a ride rolls in with some hood slits and fins
and some blacked out rims in your face
You get sprung.....

ugmm something like that

Thanks for the better images. I definitely like the front better.

If they had made the tails tri-color they could have claimed they were a modern take on the Gen-3, but yea, they aren't awful but not great as is.

Dadhawk 03-27-2013 03:58 PM

Autoweek has an article up with more photos and some details on the Z28.

They've gone a different way with the Z28 in bringing it back. It's stripped down a bit for track use but retains street legal staus (no trunk carpet, thinner glass, A/C optional, single speaker sound system, amongst other items).

Oh and the hood scoop is functional. "The Z/28 aero package includes a heat extractor vent in the hood, large front splitter, extended rocker panels, large rear spoiler and diffuser."

The front end looks much better in those pics.

UncleFester 03-27-2013 07:16 PM

The z28 sounds like the new bow-tie enthusiast car. Looking forward to some road testing of it.

LivingLegend 03-27-2013 08:04 PM

Honda called...they want their Prelude tail lights back...

dorifuto 03-27-2013 08:12 PM

Thinner glass, no a/c, one speaker and only 100 lbs lighter than an SS. You are doing it wrong Chevy. You have all the ingredients for a world class performance car except the 4,000 lb weight.

That's a fine looking car, save for the Caprice taillights. However, there'll be no more of this "ZOMG tha c7 haz camero tail lights yo" nonsense. Shame you can't have all that yummy brake and wheel goodness on a car with a radio and A/C. Props to GM for building the damned thing though.

Dadhawk 03-27-2013 10:10 PM

So, do we know that all 2014 will look like this, or is this just the Z28? Maybe I missed it somewhere that this is a model wide refresh.

All 2014s will have the updated grill, taillights, and larger rear diffuser area. The SS (at least) will have the heat extractor hood. I believe the splitter is Z28 bespoke. The spoiler looks to be a black painted ZL1/1LE spoiler. The quad exhaust is optional on the SS and 1LE, standard on the ZL1. The wheels are, AFAIK, Z28 bespoke.
