Best Wax???

After this weekend at the 1st Annual Twins on the Dragon my car is beyond filthy. Depending on the weather tomorrow I plan on wash, wax, and a heavy deatil. What would y'all reccommend?

trippinbillies40 03-25-2013 02:36 PM

30ml of Dodo Juice Supernatural. ~$30 and you'd probably get two uses out of it.

dem00n 03-25-2013 03:08 PM

What do you want?

Shine or good protection?

Honestly, I would prefer to have both

There are going to be a ton of answers on this, but my personal preference after trying quite a few products over the years is Blakckfire Wet Diamond.

It's real easy to apply (you want to do a good detail on the paint first - as this is not a consumer product with fillers) and wipe off and last a LONG time. It last forever on my garage-kept car, and still looks good for a couple of months on my cars that sleep outdoors.

Edit: For the record, I've had terrible experiences with both the old and new versions of Meguiars' NXT wax. On a humid day, I'd have to wait hours fr it to cure and even then it was a nightmare to remove compared to the blackfire.

If you want gloss, and durability, coatings are the way to go.

Griots One Step Sealant.

HAHAHAHAHA:laughabove:Some good stuff you can order is Wolfganag and pinacle from autogeek.net or if you head down to autozone there are a few good things you can pick up. I have the mothers carnuba paste and Zymol cleaner wax. I just picked up the Zymol today because it says that it does everything and contains carnuba. In reality though IT DOES. I bought it to remove bird S**T stains under my paint and it did it. It also removes light swirl marks and it waxes. I love this stuff i highly recommend.

Huehuecoyotl 03-25-2013 05:29 PM

just rubbed on out with zymol, 'carbon' for the black car and 'creme' for the white one, good wax. I also like Sonax, my age is showing here

Adams Americana 60$ for 4 to 6 months of shine and protection.

i also have to agree with blackfire wet diamond. its very easy to apply and wipe off. and gives the car a very nice gloss. i've tried a few different brands and none have been as good as the blackfire.

Well you'll wanna go the synthetic path then.

Mothers is pretty good, i'd check them out. You can get em at most auto stores.

I have a friend who uses Ammo products, his car always looks good. He beats it to hell and i still can't find a swirl mark on it...stuffs a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

I have used Zymöl products on every car I've owned. I start with the auto bathe, which is just a basic cleaner. Then I move to the pre-wax cleanse and pre-wax, which only needs to be applied every once in awhile. Finally, the wax. It is seriously the best wax I've ever used. Gives great results and I highly recommend it.

Zymöl Royale.

I like Griot's Garage products, but I feel their Best of Show Wax is the best wax out there. Really requires prep work with GRIOT'S Garage Paint Cleaning Clay for the best appearance. I don't like the finish produced by the sealant as well as that produced by Best of Show Wax. The sealant may last a bit longer, however, but I have never needed that with reasonable maintenance.

I have tried both and for some reason liked the sealant shine better. I think it will depend more the use given to the car. A daily driver I think would benefit more from the more frequent waxes while a non-DD garage kept car would do better just doing the sealant for 8-12 months at a time.

The wax is an awesome product and I do agree it leaves the surface very protected, but its so hard to remove!!

Maybe it has something to do with Florida vs. Minnesota sun. Seriously, there is a reason there are so many car waxes, sealants and polishes available. Different paints, colors, user preferences and perhaps location and weather can all play a part in what products make your ride look its best to you. Try a few and use the one that works best for you and the way you want your car to look.

I've been using collonite 845 with good results for years. I just put it on the FRS last week.

Cjm005 03-25-2013 10:21 PM

Another vote for Adams Americana

Perfections 03-26-2013 12:41 AM

Best paste wax for the money, collinite 915, if anyone argues they have no clue. Easy of use, great shine and durability, new formula opti seal, not to get confused with opti coat, which is a coating not a wax.

I need to try this out

I like massaging Adam's buttery wax into my TRD baby!

Be careful with Zymol cleaner wax on new finish. I use it on my old cars and so used it on my Raven. Got swirl marks. Had to go over with a buffer and polish. Switched to a non-silicone synthetic, works good so far.

russv 03-26-2013 11:26 AM

Collinite 915 and other carnubas look great, but unfortunately don't last very long. I use a carnuba as a topper over a good sealant or polymer wax. Gives it a good shine. I usually put on a carnuba coat after every wash.

Tt3Sheppard 03-26-2013 05:37 PM

Best waxes for whiteout?

iaclimber4 03-26-2013 06:35 PM

Honestly, with my white out, I've stuck with NuFinish. Stuff is hard to beat. I've applied a few coats to the bumper, and bugs just wipe off easily. I've put it on the rest of the car and the baby beads as good as the Rain-X on the windshield. Easy on, easy off...

Tt3Sheppard 03-26-2013 08:54 PM

Yea there are seriously so many options and everyone says they are better than the other. Enough to make one go crazy.

I love my GG ROP but I haven't tried any of their products. I've heard their Best of Show Wax can be a real bear to apply.

I use Meguiar's Ultimate on our white Camry. Works well enough for me. Probably going to order some CG Blacklight and Hybrid V7 eventually though.

lol turd baby.

I use NXT 2.0. I'm a cheap date.

eurominican 03-27-2013 11:45 AM

I have Meguiar's NXT 2.0 ... Anyone that has used it on a Firestone Red care to give feedback? Thanks in advance!

Books 03-27-2013 02:17 PM

I will have to give Collinite 915 a try when I run out of my other waxes.

I recently have been using Chemical guy's Butter Wet Wax and Meguiars (something something) carnuba wax. Amazing shine and good durability! (as shown in my profile pic from last summer)

For the spring, I have some chemical guys black light that i'm going to try out too.

Tt3Sheppard 03-27-2013 02:32 PM

I just picked up some Griot's Garage sealant and best of show. Will post results once I wash the car.

Lol did you just say collinite 915 and don't last very long in the same sentence? Why not actually do a side by side with your favorite sealant vs 915, come back 6 months later and let everyone know which one won.... Personally I don't dog stuff unless I've actually used the product and placing 915 in the same class as a typical carnauba lets me know you've obviously never used the product for yourself. When you try it please post up your thoughts. :)

With this sort of reaction i am ordering this stuff. I've been using 845 for years and have never had a complaint. I usually reapply every 3 months or so! Do you have any comparison between the 845 and the 915?

suaveflooder 03-27-2013 03:20 PM

Just answered my own question. Looks like i will be sticking with the 845 as i live in good weather and the car spends most of its time in the garage. The ease of application and removal is what i like!

Attachment 32002

Perfections 03-27-2013 03:40 PM

915 isn't bad, you just have to apply it thin. But still not quite as effortless as 845. This is why I usually use opti seal, it's crazy easy and the new formula really stepped up the durability about another 2 months.

seanyboy 03-27-2013 06:16 PM

I have found that the 5 dollar turtle wax works really good. It works better than the other two expensive bottles of wax I tried. I also use turtle wax ice spray wax on the windows and plastic and it works awesome.
