Haha, we need you there. If we get the Ptuning FR-S ready in time for the autoX, it will be at the autoX for testing purposes and not to compete against anyone :)

Do these cars benefit from an alignment when they're stock? Or are they known for being far off from the factory?

Most of the time factory alignment isnt the best/accurate how ever when you do an alignment from stock You can adjust camber toe etc.

That being said unless you have Lower Control arms for the car from a 3rd party, stock is non adjustable.

The front is adjustable up to a point.

The factory alignment is fine for everyday driving, it is the best for even tire wear ( if just street driving).
However, the car will understeer and "wash out" when pushed hard. Even a stock FRS/BRZ could benefit from a more performance oriented alignment. All that is needed are front camber bolts, and custom alignment. More - camber would be a huge advantage, even on stock tires. We carry the bolts and can do a more aggressive alignment for you.

Camber bolts aren't allowed for stock classes at SCCA AutoX events though, correct?

Signed up. Found an E85 station nearby, definitely going to need it.

PS - I get my E85 from the next closest station (maybe 10 min or so away from the one closest to the track) and it tests at 85-88% ethanol content. :happyanim:

The one near the track is owned by the same people, but i haven't tested to confirm that their ethanol content is as high.

Camber bolts are not allow without putting you into another class for SCCA. With NASA, I believe you are given an allowance of 24 points for mods in a stock BRZ/FRS (not sure if there's an automatic points deduction for a BRZ/FRS vs other stock vehicles) before you are bump up to the next class from your base class. I believe the point deduction for camber bolts is something like 2 points, which still leaves you with 22 points left over before you are bumped up to the next class.

If this is your first autoX, I would not worry about the points too much. Just focus on your driving and enjoy the events. But if you're going after the national championship then yeah, every point counts.

Thanks guys. It's been a few years but I've done a few autox's in the past. I doubt I'd ever attempt to compete in SCCA AutoX and I know how much of a difference an alignment made when I had my previous car (S2000), which had adjustments for camber from the factory, so it just seems silly that you can't do that to other cars without getting bumped to a higher class. I should probably just do it and forget about the stupid classes.

Yea, I prefer NASA classification personally. It allows a lot of freedom, and variety.

Yeah it definitely seems more complicated, but it also encourages people to be creative.
