I hear you on that. As long as the car performs well and is within its boundaries of safety and reliability, I'm happy. The whp question was more to see if you're 500+ or just like me (about 250-300whp). Did you notice spark blow out or did you just adjust the gap to be on the safe side? Oh, and are you running E or 91/93 pump? Here in OK, we get pisswater 91 and 93 is about as much as 101. Good thing E85 (82% consistently year around) is plentiful! |
Hate bumping an old thread, but figured better then starting a new one, I just installed a KW C38 with the smaller high boost pulley, Chruch went to dyno it but the tune was no good, and we couldn't log and a host of issues. So KW sent me a map to try out and it was much better, all the detonation and knock was gone.. Problem was a misfire, I figured the coil may have went out so I was going to change position and see if it stayed with #3.. Then decided to pull the plug, not sure what the fuss was, but 20 mins later on a more then warm engine I got the right side plugs out.. Here is what I found

I'm changing all 4 but was wondering about the gap, I read to gap them slightly smaller.. What are you FI guys tapping them at??? |

i ran slightly smaller gapped oem plugs for almost 20k miles on my avo kit. at 11psi on pump, 18 on e85. when we put my built motor in i put stock plugs in and kept them at the stock gap. i wanted to close them up a hair but forgot to. 26psi making 500+ with no misfires or issues. that tune must have been pretty bad to melt the tips like that

Well I have the same setup as a customer BRZ a and Church put 408 to his dyno packs.. On e85, 309 on 91.. Mine is a auto and eVerytime we tried to log, it would freeze or skip, I had a lot of "no response to OBD" errors, he showed me that he just brought the other map over to a auto and I thought it would work, but I guess something is off that much from the auto to the manual. KW saw the logs and told me I was lucky the engine didn't spill its guts, the DI was hardly being used and there was to much timing, when church would up the injector rates, it still wasn't working, no change and going lean. New plugs are going in today, and KW is sending me a revised map, I'll do some logs and see if the engine is still decent.. I'll be switching over to E85, I'll gap the plugs.005 under how they come out the box.. I assume most iridium plugs are pre gapped still??? They used to be and you couldn't stick a tool in to gap, but I haven't messed with IR plugs for years and years

torque spec
i find that it is pretty easy especially if you have a set of wobbler extensions. i was looking on the internets and really couldn't find a clear answer but what was everyone torquing down the spark plugs too?

hello! fa20 +turbo+stock plugs
14.5 psi and everytime i've misfire Attachment 122148 Then i've then bought new spark plugs, but now i've misfire again. I need non stock plugs, but what model i need to use? |
I think you are past the point that a heat range change is going to fix it if you are doing that to your plugs. Looks more like a tuning issue. What gaps have you tried running?
|
Going to pull my plugs out cuz getting missfire or bogging during boost, according to full race they want you to use a 2 step colder plug which they recommend a ngk 9 cold plug, according to hks the stock plug is equvilent to a ngk 9 cold plug so im confused

HKS M45HLs just arrived. Waiting for the stock clutch to start slipping so that I can do both jobs at the same time.
|
Who said we dont have to lift engine? I starting to think never done this.
