Do dealers charge for the customization features?

I don't have my BRZ yet, it's at the dealer and we're just waiting for documents to be signed and shipped back/forth. I'm looking at the owners manual pdf and there are some features that i'm not sure how they will work exactly. I'm buying the car out of state, just wondering if it's protocol for my local dealers to charge to change the settings.

EDIT: So i've attached three pictures from the customizations part of the manual.

I circled the options I want. I left two options i'm unsure of. Manual page 437, What is the operation signal (buzzer)? I thoguht it was the sound of the car beep when you lock/unlock the car, but then on page 438, it shows up again along with Door lock buzzer as an option.

Also on page 439, does the 7.5 seconds for time elapsed before lights turn off refer to if illumination setting set to "Door" (when you open/close the door)? I'm going to keep the interior illumination set to "Off" since I don't want it on unless I manually turn it on but in the future I may want to enable it again, hopefully I don't have to visit a dealership just to do this.

Be more specific, what kind of customization are we talking about here? You can customize your own startup screen for the navi using your very own personal SD card(NOT the navi sd card). You can update your navigation software manually, or have the dealership do it for you for not free.

Avoid them at all cost unless you have a free service or have TSB/warranty issues.

One dealer quoted me $100 to change those customizations. I think it was Renick Subaru that I called. Not worth it , I rather live with the default settings.

You buying it from a dealer? Have them make the changes before you pick it up? I would assume that your local non purchasing dealer would charge you.

Just a guess here re: the buzzer sounds

First one is buzzer if unlocked (and locked?) when done so by approaching the vehicle and unlocking it via touching the handle.

Second is unlocking via the button on the fob.

Third is locking via the fob.

Again, just a guess. I don't know why lock/unlock would be seperate in remote keyless, but one option on keyless push button.

i am buying from an out of state dealer and i will ask them to program the settings above however i'm asking because if i want to change them later on if i should expect to be charged.

i'm just going to set the buzzers to off, my current car doesn't beep now and after cheking youtube what the beep sounds like, i'm sure i'lll have no regrets :)

You can change all those settings yourself getting toyota techstream and cable from ebay.

Around $30. There are some threads in the engine technical subforum

Dealers charge you for breathing their air.

Toyota did it for free for me

I was not offered any of this but my dealer did charge me $2500 more just for the hell of it on my BRZ

Dealer said they couldn't do any of these customizations but would charge 80 to look at it and see haha what a joke

I got mine done for free for my FR-S, their head tech was surprised to learn of it, never asked for money. It might have helped that my salesman offered to walk me over and meet the tech, saying "take care of him".

If they ask for payment, show them the manual and politely argue that the customization is part of the car and included in the sale. I had actually mentioned this while explaining to the tech what it is I was wanting him to do for me.

I basically never gave them an opportunity to say there would be a charge as it would have been silly after my valid point was made. Just work on your approach.
