How happy are you with your Rota Wheels?

I like a few of the different Rota wheels. How is the quality on these? Easy to balance your tires on them and get a perfectly smooth ride? Have you used hub spacers to match to the Subaru hub bore? Any durability issues? I appreciate any knowledgeable input you guys have. Thanks!

Subscribed! Rota Grids are my next purchase to make but I want to be sure that although they are less expensive they won't have any problems during everyday driving

No hub spacers needed if you get the correct size, I've AutoX'd with them twice without it falling apart, seems fine to me. I am not a professional driver nor a licensed automotive mechanic, just a review from an ordinary dude that loves cars.

If you are concerned with weight, brand name and a true racing wheel, I'd go with something else. If you are just concerned with street use, I don't think you will have a problem with Rota's. Hyper Black or Titanium Chrome are a great color contrast with your SWP/White 86.

I had Rota Torques as winter wheels on my STI. They were fine, no issues. They didn't require a huge amount of weight to balance, and the finish held up well over time. They were fairly strong and light for a cheap, gravity-cast wheel. Wouldn't hesitate to buy Rotas again.

Mine are great, raced on them, daily drove em, I am a professional in a automotive shop and they balanced perfect (as any new wheel should) :-)

I've got about 1000 miles on them, no air leaks nothing.

Rotas are terrible and you should feel bad that you're buying knockoffs and just wait because one will explode and your car will go careening off the road and flip 87 times and kill someone's grandma.

Ok, that's out of the way, so nobody else needs to post it. :D

I haven't personally owned Rotas, but I know several people who have and none had any issues that I know of.

Rota's are very popular with the Subaru crowd.

Yeah, there have been a couple cases of them cracking due to air pockets from casting. Yeah, they're heavy, but they're cheap and get the job done.

I've had a set of TarmacII's for summer duty the past 5 years. I've done some autocrossing and a lot of spirited street driving. They're still holding up well. No problems here.

And they're so cheap if I accidentally curb them I won't want to kill myself. I personally wouldn't want to drive my car if I was rolling on a $3000 set of Volks or something.

I would go for it.

I wouldn't consider all Rota's heavy. My 18x9.5 RT5's come in at 20.4 lbs each, which is within a few tenths of the stock 17's.

Thanks for all the input. I love the staggered rt5's

I've owned a few sets over the years. Tracked and autocrossed many times and never had an issue. They are lighter than most other wheels in their price range.

so why do so many people bash and hate on rotas? is it just cuz they copy designs and stuff? I mean shit personally I don't care if they copy, there're only so many designs out there.

Yes.

a lot of people won't like what i'm about to say, but I reckon if they priced their wheels at 1grand each, there won't be as many negative comments :P
