Grab a '13 now, or wait for a '14?

What would you do and why?

I'm told all current '13 models have different injectors, and upgraded ECU settings/capabilities to counter the issues in the first few months of release.

can anyone verify that? (it's coming from a sales rep). Would you wait for a 2014?

I would wait for a 2014..only a few months away. Put an order in now!

I am so sick of seeing this kinda posts when people ask the same thing over and over again and others post the same answers over and over again.

Wait for 2015!!! The rear bumper cover is supposed to be made from a new transfused polyhydrate technology with improved theromal envelope efficiency for peak transient response in resistance to adverse meteorological conditions.

Yes, that and this time the flux capacitor has a fluxrange of 10,000 Ω

Did you know that this is to counter the induced effect of the earth's magnetic field? Ya that's right. They were also talking about making the chassis from Jolly Ranchers, so in a crash, at least the little kids (and candy loving grown ups) would be happy.

Do you have the continumtranfuctioner?

Mandy 03-20-2013 11:49 AM

In all seriousness. I forget whether it's 2014 or 2014 models, but there's going to be a new law passed in which all new cars will have to have a backup cam. May be worth waiting for.

I have done some searching, where are you finding this information? I would love to see some official order/street dates for the 2014 FRS I have only seen them for the BRZ order date is 6/3/2013 and first delivery is 10/31/2013, which is over 7 months away.

Also does anyone have any official information on the pricing? Will it remain the same? Most companies increase the price every year because they make "improvements".

Or may be worth getting one immediately so you don't have to pay for that B.S.

To the OP, no word on different parts at all, odds are the only difference will be your VIN & registration.

Edit: and the price already went up for FRS for 2013 by $300, it'd be a **** move for Toyota to up the price again for the '14 model with no improvements.

Meh just buy it now and have it for the summer! Dealer will cover any issues anyways.

bdub85 03-20-2013 12:25 PM

The only reason to wait would be if they were adding a turbo which they aren't. I really doubt the 2014 models will be much different.

^This.

There isn't going to be any major redesign, so any repairs will just be replacement parts covered by your warranty. Besides, my impression is that people who bought their cars after summer 2012 generally aren't experiencing the typical problems we saw when the cars first came out (chirping, trunk won't open, etc). Of course it's gonna seem bad when you come to this forum and read the issues section, but in reality I believe that only something like 5% of owners were experiencing issues, iirc.
