Anyone On Here Live In Ukiah or Monterey?

Hey guys,

I'll be down in Ukiah for a family reunion on May 11th. I plan on being there May 9th or 10th and leaving May 13th to head to San Diego, Chandler, AZ and Denver, CO, then back up to Alaska.

Was hoping someone might wanna hangout for a minute, share car stories, meet an Alaskan, or whatever. haha

I'll also be going down to Monterey if anyone on here is around that area, too.

Thanks!

- Chano

Both Ukiah and Monterey are about 2 hrs from the bulk of the bay area but Monterey is a little closer to the south bay, so I'm sure some of those guys wouldn't mind driving down to meet up. Put down a date for both places, I'm sure some folks would wanna meet up. I might even convince my wife if we made a day trip out of it.

I live in monterey area. not much 86 owners that i know of here, seen a couple like 2-4 doubt theyre in the club though. i'd love to show you around but usually im at work or school. full time student and part/full time job. im the only black frs in my area i think so spot me if ever but most likely im headed to work or school. great areas to go see is of course big sur cause of the view or 17 mile drive. but cannery row is a big tourist spot too. and for pretty decent burgers and clamari i recomend archies american dinner IMO.

I don't expect there to be a HUGE turnout. I am trying to unify NASIOC, FT86Club and i-club just to give people something different. A break from the norm can be welcoming.

I would like to spend an entire day in Monterey, maybe two. I gotta talk to my buddy's wife that has family there. I'd like to hangout there Thursday and Friday (9th and 10th), then head to my family reunion on the Saturday the 11th. If there are people around Ukiah then I'd hangout Saturday night and Sunday evening, ideally.

I'll have more decisions made closer to the trip. I can't believe it's 5 weeks away! Insanity!

I appreciate all your guy's input.

I do believe there are some Santa Rosa folks on this forum and that's probably the nearest major city where you'll find some forum members.

Monterey, though, may have some forum members.

OT, how does the BRZ hold up in the Alaska winter?

If I didn't have clear bra my car would have even more nicks than I would like. We didn't get a ton of deep snow this year. When the Lower 48 get a lot of snow, we don't. When you guys get severe, death-dealing cold, we got record-levels of snow. Last winter I think my BRZ would've died in all the snow. Clearance is the biggest issue. It was so barren this winter, though, that I got around fine.

Come this winter I plan on either having a Toyota Tacoma to get around in the winter or a beater Subie. BRZ will be for frozen snow, days after a snow fall. It's beautiful to drive a black BRZ with a white, snowy backdrop. Also the car stays cleaner in the winter since there's no dust.

I am up here near the ukiah area, except I am over on the coast. We only have one other frs in the area. I do know they have sold about 5 of each of the twins from both ukiah dealers. None are on the forum though. Hope you had a nice trip. A lot of great driving roads up here. 128, 253, 1, 20 and a lot of back roads like Orr springs and mountain valley. Also south of gualala are a few great mountain roads.

i-club has a lot of Bay Area peeps.

Do people in Alaska say "eh?" like Canadians?

lol No. Alaska is a melting pot because of the strong military presence up here, so most of us that aren't Alaskan Native or from out-of-state will be the most normal-sounding human beings you've ever heard.

Just a reminder that I'll be down in Ukiah next Wednesday, May 8th for the day, then I'm heading down to Monterey later Wednesday and plan on spending the night and hanging out Thursday, May 9th all day. If I love it there I might chill for most of the day on Friday, May 10th before I have to head back to Ukiah for my family reunion on Saturday, May 11th.
