Would it be a worthwhile investment for people in hail-prone areas to keep a thick, fitted car cover in their trunks? I only get hail worth worrying over once in every few years, but I imagine those in the mid-west have a more regular concern with it.

So it hailed here a few days ago... Not even big hail, maybe dime sized. Still have dings here and there on the hood, roof, fenders, and trunk. Had to submit a claim to the insurance company :( This car dings easily!

I got it too. One big one on my roof, minor onrd on the hood. Sprinted through the parking lot and got it to the gas station before it got too bad.

I left work in State College about 30 minutes before that storm. Extremely rare here. Flooding, EF1 tornado, hail in 24 hours; unheard of for State College.

I probably would have jumped onto my car if I was around for that...

I knew just watching this video that my car would've been f'ed up. Sorry to hear about yours man.

Nothing like the feeling when it hails on your car and nothing you can do about it. Bought my car in early November, sits in the garage and only drive it on the weekends (1500 miles on it). drove it to family gathering for the 4th, and what started as a nice day turned to some hail towards the end of the day, I got luck, it was only the small pea sized and appears no damage. But it did suck sitting under a tent watching it happen and nothing you can do about it.

With these cars you can virtually guarantee yourself, if it hails, you're getting dinged up.

I understand why the metal is so thin but for all the sacrifices made for weight savings 2750 is still not super light.

I have an escape plan. The Wife's mini Cooper comes out of the garage and my BRZ goes in. Of course if we are out somewhere, I google the nearest bank and plan to park in their drive thru until the storm passes. (I really do have that as my plan)
