I'm from Mississippi originally. My friend in Jackson got in touch with me the other day and also lost a car to that ungodly storm. Sun roof, tail lights, front and rear glass, water damage, dents, etc etc etc. Sorry to see one of the twins go down as well. Good luck getting all of that sorted out.

A guy I know in southern Illinois had large hail hit his WRX when it was almost brand new back in 2003. Back then it also had an aluminum hood. He also had like 200+ dents due to the hail. Due to the damage on basically every body panel, they ended up totalling the car. Unfortunately you still end up losing money overall on depreciation and everything, unless you have an insurance company that does actual new car replacement...
Maybe you can get them to put a CF roof on it if they fix it. :) My car was outside when part of that storm went through Atlanta, but thankfully we just had some tiny hail that didn't do anything. I was also parked under a tree and put the car cover on just in case, not that it would have done any good with hail that large. |
sounds like its time for a free Rocket Bunny kit!

Wouldn't a hail damaged totaled car be a great opportunity for a buy back? I mean as long as some dents and hard work don't bother you I imagine you could do a lot of the work yourself for cheap and there is no structural or mechanical damage as from a typical accident.

Adjuster finally came out to review the damage (carnage). Replacing every panel on the car and complete repaint. Didn't total it but are cutting a check for $14k, the body shop thinks its low but will look at it today to see they will have to file a supplemental claim for me, owner is a friend. That may push over the totaling point. Would have to get over the 20K mark before it would be considered totaled.
Hopefully getting glass put in today and will at least be able to drive it while they look for parts. most expensive part hood at $600 next surprised me with the back glass at $575 |
kapooyah kapooyah!

Hope the fix goes smoothly for you. |
There was a Hail storm here and I saw a Firestorm red FRS that was beat to shit on the lot here at Santa Fe Mazda Volvo, they must have fixed it and sold it? Don't they have to tell the new owner before they sell it?
