June Road trip to Vegas for 86EXPO

Hey guys, thinking of POSSIBLY making the road trip to Vegas for the 86EXPO June 14-15. Anyone else considering the trek?

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31304

Myself (@digital_assassin) and @BRZPDX and I are planning on making it a 2 day run to Vegas. On 6/12/13 (Wednesday) we will leave Portland at 9 AM sharp so the Seattle folk will have time to make it here without having to wake up too early. We will be staying the night in Reno and then continuing to Vegas on Thursday. For the Eastern OR, Eastern WA, & ID peeps lets meet in Reno on Wednesday night and then leave for Vegas at 8 AM.

Meet at my place in Tigard to roll out. There's a gas station on the way to the interstate so we can stop there and top off all the cars and grab road food after leaving my place. If enough people want to show up early, say 8:00, I'll make breakfast.

The route posted starts at my house 7934 SW Mara Ct Tigard, OR 97224. My number is (503)793-9138 if you need directions when driving.

Peppermill Reno on the 12th. Book em now and they're only $69.99 for that night.
Edit* booked my room and total with all fees and taxes came to $92.65

In Eugene we leave the Interstate and start the fun roads all the way to Vegas. Mountains and lakes for the whole drive!

17 hours from Portland -> Vegas.

Luke.Cariveau 03-19-2013 03:29 AM

Im down

DarrenDriven 03-19-2013 03:35 AM

Man, this could be pretty epic. Maybe the NW could really represent. :)

Chen 03-19-2013 04:02 AM

I wish -_-

Touge_ninja 03-19-2013 04:30 AM

arghhh i wont have my turbo yet.....

wrohdejr 03-19-2013 12:10 PM

I love vegas. Just have to convince the wife to drive there instead of flying!!!

Skywgn1 03-19-2013 05:21 PM

What route would you probably take?

myd_lyf_crysys 03-19-2013 08:38 PM

With GreenLight America just a couple of weeks later, it would be a pretty tough sell to the wife. Too bad the 2 events didn't line up!

wrohdejr 03-19-2013 09:42 PM

If you google map the fastest way to vegas is through boise and twin falls then down through nevada to vegas total time 16hrs.

zohare 03-19-2013 09:43 PM

Woot! I'm in. Faces to names would be nice

BRZPDX 03-19-2013 10:40 PM

I may have my Vortech SC kit stage 2 by then. Kinda iffy if I want to drive 3000 miles on a new forced induction kit though. Me and my gf is down for this but would be more fun if we can get a solid group.

I like to drive down to Redding, then cut over to Susanville and head south, but I'm open to whatever.

Are you going to be in the NW for the beginning of the trip? If not... you are kinda posting in the wrong topic.

DeepHunta 03-20-2013 12:10 AM

How far is drive from Seattle to Vegas? 24 hours? no stanks. I'll just air freight my car ;)

DarrenDriven 03-20-2013 12:13 AM

Haha... it's 1000 miles from Portland, so tack on another 160-ish. The road trip is part of the fun!

Mnoland9 03-20-2013 12:37 AM

In a strange twist of fate...My wife and I had already planned a trip to Vegas that week...a road trip!! So I will be about 5k up by the time you guys get into town! Look forward to meeting you guys down in Vegas. Should be fun!

Look forward to meeting you guy's!

wrohdejr 03-20-2013 12:42 AM

So are you thinking a straight drive through or stopping in reno to break it up into a two day drive?

I can't imagine a better reliability test than that

I have done the drive 10+ times straight through without any issues, so that is what I was planning. Anyone that wants to leave a day early could -- then we could meet them in Reno as we pass through.

BRZPDX 03-20-2013 01:35 PM

Sounds like we all need to get some coke, and take a road bump to drive 17 hours straight through.

DarrenDriven 03-20-2013 01:41 PM

Or just forced induction and a radar detector. :)

stockysnail 03-20-2013 01:46 PM

16 hours of being in a car is about 3 times as long as I'd like to be in a car all at once without a large break, not to mention the cost of a hotel, food, etc... How am I going to keep buying car parts (or pay off the ones I already bought) if I spend lost of money on a trip. ;)

The Experience? Sharing that hard work with people from all over is my motivation =]

Clint520 03-20-2013 03:13 PM

Tempting.

zohare 03-20-2013 03:19 PM

Crap... just realized I have a wedding to attend... this decision is harder than it should be

Sounds tempting! But too far out to make a decision just yet. I need to start modding soon lol So that I don't take my stock premium BRZ to the expo lol 15 drive not too bad.

fritzy 03-22-2013 05:29 PM

I'm in Kennewick. I'd be willing to meet up in Portland to caravan with Seattle and Portlanders. Hell, my wife recently left me, so let's go!

Awesome. I just happen to live in Twin Falls. We'll see you here and probably join the trip.:party0030:

If you go through Twin Falls you end up in St. George, Utah and interstate the rest of the way. If you stopped in Twin we could always have a BBQ at my place.

Freeways in the BRZ/FR-S? I suppose that'd be faster, but the twisties through central Oregon sound more interesting!

The quote you quoted from was if we went through redding to susanville to reno then to vegas.

Mongo 03-23-2013 01:18 AM

I just requested the time off work today. I'm in. Anybody have a good idea which hotel is good and affordable?

stockysnail 03-23-2013 01:23 AM

If I'm still unemployed by then I'll go too.

It's all the same. If I remember right when you get to Ely, Neveda, you can choose to go through either St. George or stay on the two lane all the way down to Vegas. Once there, you can either take the same way home or enjoy the California traffic going back up the coast.

Skywgn1 03-26-2013 03:41 PM

I am officially in. How many want to come into Twin Falls to mark the half way point on the 13th and have a bbq and beer at my house? We can leave Thursday morning at 6 or so and be down there around 2.

DarrenDriven 03-27-2013 12:49 PM

Nice! Twin Falls is way out of the way for us Portlanders, but maybe we can join up in Reno or something?

BRZPDX 04-02-2013 01:16 PM

So who is in for sure? Me and my girl talked about it, and we are in.

We are in to clubbing and shit, so if some of you are down, you guys are more than welcome to join us. I have a friend that lives there so sometimes we can get sweet deals on VIP tables and what not. Unless the event is having a after party else where.

Tanuki 04-02-2013 06:47 PM

Let me know if you guys go through Salt Lake. I plan to leave thursday, but if you want to stay the night at my place wednesday night or whatever, I am sure we have room for some sleeping bags.

zohare 04-02-2013 07:49 PM

As of now I'm in but coming from probably Colorado maybe cali or az.
