12v RCA Switch/Toggle for Backup Camera on Stock HU?

Howdy yall,

I'm curious if anyone knows of a nice compact RCA switch that'll run off 12v? After playing around with Beatsonic's backup camera, I got to thinking about what other kinds of things I could do with RCA inputs on the stock HU.

What I'm envisioning is wiring it to where when I put it in reverse, it'll still kick the reverse mode on, but I'd also wire in a switch to apply voltage to the terminal (pin 2 I believe?) on demand (to turn on the "RCA-on mode"), and a switch to change inputs from the backup camera to whatever other RCA input I eventually run (MHL to RCA to display the phone's screen on deck for navigation or whatnot maybe?).

Thoughts?

Something like this maybe. And I didn't draw it in, but I'm pretty sure I'd need a dpdt relay between the reverse signal and 12v acc toggle wire to keep signal bleed from tricking the car into thinking it's in reverse while being driven.

If you figure it out, make a kit, small production run, profit.

That'd be easy enough if people were actually interested. I mean you could use it as a switch for whatever kind of signal you wanted (DVD player, game console, phone, etc).

Wonder what a good two button toggle switch would look like, and where would be best to mount it. Where the seat heater buttons are supposed to be?

Well, I got the wiring figured out. No fancy switcher needed. Basically, you'll have two switches. One to switch from Auto (the screen will come on when shifting into reverse), and Manual-Override to turn on screen on On-Demand. Another switch to go from RCA Input 1 to 2.

Parts:
3x 12v DPDT relays (w/ diode to prevent voltage spike)
1x SPST Toggle Switch
1x SPDT Toggle Switch
3x Molex-Style Pins
18x Spade-End Connectors
2x Ring Connectors
2x Posi-Taps
1x Spool of Wire.

Any input or thoughts if I drew the wiring diagram wrong?

Or try this for your composite switcher...

I've made plenty with standard 5 pin relays... I don't think you need dpdt relays at all.

It looks like we might have an easier solution.

How. Please. How.

Or in non mongol speak,

Could you please elaborate on the steps you took to get to this option?

Thank you.

The USA version (says Zypr powered) does not support this ability. The end.

F***.

however the other method with switches will do the trick. just have to deal with the "check for safety" message at all times in video

i tried this and it ended up where reverse or not the switch has total control when grounded. when not grounded it works regularly and switch does nothing. any ideas or how to do it on a 5 pin?

Sounds like you have it wired up wrong..without seeing it I honestly can't tell you where you made the mistake
