Hood got chipped :(

So i dont know how, but maybe driving on highway a rock or something must of chipped my hood. Its really tiny yeah i guess its lucky and not dented but its really small..

Any way of really fixing it? Do body shops or whatever fix really tiny chips or when they fix it the whole hood gets repaired? Any help on this?

Or should i just :word:<-- face and leave it alone and  every night to sleep to my not 100% clean car anymore :brokenheart:

How much do you think it would be lol its :iono:

it depends on what kind of "chip" you have. are we talkign like dime sized? pen dot size? your best bet if you want a cheap fix is to use a paint match pen or some kind of paint like dr color chip.

I would just touch it up. when it comes time to trade your car in and they read that your car has been painted with a paint meter they now have an excuse to offer you less. also if the shop does a bad job blending the paint its even worse.

Using a pen? This car isnt a civic lol but yeah i understand :( but the chip size is like the same size as the flash led light on a iphone

Is there a way to post a pic using phone without app?

paint pens are filled with paint. they arent markers FYI... google is your friend.

Do not have the hood painted. There are odds that one, if not two things will happen. One, the color will not be exact and or two, the finish will not be identical. In fact there are three reasons. Number three is the cost would be ridiculous compared to a bottle of touch up paint. Simply use touch up paint and a tooth pick. Put the paint in the chip but don't get any touch up on the existing paint. In the chip only!! Let it dry, do again. Perhaps you'll need a third application. When dry, polish and you'll be the only person that knows it's there.

i guess so. sucks that its dark grey metallic so it wont look the same on the chip

Frostyman 03-18-2013 11:53 AM

@whaap is right on about touch up procedure.

If you buy factory touch-up there's no reason it won't look the same. One thing I learned with a metalic grey Miata I owned is be sure and shake the container, and then shake it some more, to get it really well mixed before you apply it.
