Do Switch Back LEDS Work On The BRZ ?

Hey, I'm new on this forum and I've been browsing around for a while. I've tried to search and haven't found anything pertaining to this, however, if there is and I've missed it, I'm terribly sorry.

I've seen people use switch back LEDs in the frs' and I inquired about putting switch back LEDs in my brz headlights, however I was told that they wouldn't work ... has anyone had any experience with this or any insights perhaps ?

IMO I would keep the lighting for the brz alone. Subaru did it right.

I mistakenly bought switchback LED's for my BRZ. They work but remember, our signal lights are not lit up all the time (unlike the FRS), so they only light up amber to turn, but never light up white.

FRS front turn signal bulb - 7443 (dual filament)
BRZ front turn signal bulb - 7440 (single filament)

for a FRS, you have 2 modes for the front turn signal light, it is lit dimly during "parking light mode" and shines brighter during "turn signal mode", adding switchbacks allow the parking light mode to be white to match aftermarket headlights or sidemarkers, and "switches" to amber color when the turn signal is engaged. after you finish with the turn signal, it "switches back" to the white mode

for the BRZ, the light only flashes for turn signal mode, there would be nothing for it to "switch back" to, so if you wanted a white or amber LED, you're better off just getting a 7440 solid color LED bulb

only 7443, 1157, 7507, and 3157 bulbs would be able to be switchback bulbs, all other ones like 7440, 1156, 3156, 7506 would be solid color

^ This ^

It's pointless to really get them for the BRZ, because your turn signals don't have an "always on" mode. The FR-S turn signals do. Also, it's inside the housing instead of on the bumper. If you'd like to do something like that, the way to do it would be to make a switchback LED strip replacement for the one already in the BRZ, but I don't think anyone makes that, and it would be too expensive to justify.

Oh okay, I guess I didn't realize that the frs had the signal as a drl as well, hmm .. well that makes sense now !

But thanks a lot for the help and knowledge ! I guess this was a pretty silly thread to make, should have researched that first :bonk:

Thanks again though !
