Stoked to see how it sounds and performs in person. Does this one have issues with cel?

Lverasky 03-16-2013 03:00 PM

Luke.Cariveau 03-16-2013 03:42 PM

Cant Wait!

JesseE 03-16-2013 05:56 PM

Alright, its in and pictures/ 1 tiny video uploading right now!

Got to say though, only took about 20 minutes start to finish EASIEST header install ever... By a long shot! Header honestly didn't look super amazing by any means, but it does the job and boy does it do the job well! Everything fit perfectly and the supplied nuts/bolts worked perfectly... it did NOT come with any gaskets, but I reused the OEM gaskets as they only had 1000 miles on them and they came out in perfect condition.

I LOVE how it sounds, amazing to hear the rumble! I don't know how the video sounds yet but in person its perfection!

Here's the video 100% stock tune... Stock exhaust from header to muffler. and then custom muffler delete/tip

Video makes it sound like it crackles... but it doesn't.

HATED1 03-16-2013 08:16 PM

Maybe it's just me, but I can't see it.

JesseE 03-16-2013 08:18 PM

Can't see the video?

Alfr-s 03-16-2013 08:43 PM

Sounds incredibly nice. Is you have an iPhone need to download photobucket app to see the video

digital_assassin 03-16-2013 08:44 PM

Sounds great! Have you driven it? Notice any power gains?

JesseE 03-16-2013 08:45 PM

Not yet, I get to drive it home in about 15 minutes or so though :-P

HATED1 03-16-2013 09:51 PM

i saw it, sounds awesome! i def. can hear the rumble, would you say it sounds like the wrx's in person?

JesseE 03-16-2013 09:58 PM

Love it, Feels like a lot more low end torque/power, around town drive-ability is so much better. top end... meh still feels slow compared to my last 2 cars (supercharged 350z and r33 skyline)
This video is actually only audio :-P

norsamerican 03-17-2013 03:40 AM

Do you have a Check engine light on? Or did you get a tune?

No tune, no check engine light yet... only been 7 miles...

The o2 sensor basically is a 0-1 v graph, and rear o2 sensor should be fairly steady because of how the inside of the cat converter chemically reacts to the fuel air mixture of the exhaust, as the exhaust passes through the cat the cat reacts, gets very very hot from the reaction, and then once the air has gone through the cat it will have a very steady oxygen reading. Basically if your rear o2 sensor is a pretty constant voltage, the computer assumes cat is working great. but when the cat is removed, or stops working because it gets coated with crap, the rear oxygen sensor, goes up and down just like the front o2 sensor, and that's how the computer understands the cat has failed.

So basically its just a matter of time when the computer see's constant rear oxygen sensor voltage jumping up and down and then decide when to set a code after a few trips of failure

very easily actually, like ^ said you can get a tune and they can turn that stuff off, but other thing is you can get little o2 sensor extenders that make the o2 read off of a very small amount of exhaust gas and usually that will not set codes

I've heard bad things about these exhaust extenders.

Have you noticed any performance degradation since the CEL popped up? I could live with a CEL as long as there are no issues. Not really wanting to get a tune if I don't have to.

JesseE 04-03-2013 04:08 AM

There can be nothing bad about one... rear o2 sensor is only for monitoring cat... it will NOT affect performance in any way... front o2 sensor is what can affect performance... but that is not affected as its before where the cat would be anyway

Goodguy889 04-03-2013 06:57 PM

I could be very wrong but I believe once the cel comes on the car goes into limp mode which dims down performance. I know on my car (genesis turbo) once the cel comes on it's in automatic limp mode which cuts off boost. I believe you will also run rich and get crappy mpg. I could be wrong though
