first standalone ECU?

Thanks to those that helped with our info requests. Ken's engine ran on a standalone ECU with full
Direct Injection,
port injection,
cam control,
drive by wire,
knock sensors,
alternator,
etc.

Is this the first?

I wish luck to Ken Stout Racing as they gear up for some exciting World Challenge GTS action.

No. Phil @ Element Tuning and Hyrda have had one running for a while.

But, good job none-the-less.

Thanks. I will look into the Hydra. I was not aware that they could control everything directly in their box.

Best Link? Or should I do the polite thing and just start searching.

I know there is a thread in here somewhere, but here is a short video that they recently put up :) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwY5FyekNfI"]Element Tuning Hydra EMS for FRS BRZ FT86 - YouTube[/ame]

The Hydra links are interesting. It looks like it should really find a good place in the market.

Yes, that is a TRD supercharger. Knowing the people and sponsors involved, not many details are likely to be revealed until after the supercharger (and ECU and suspension kit and . . .) is released for sale.

The program is still very early in its development. Look for good things to come.

have fun,

Are you using a Motec M1 to control the engine?

Visconti 03-16-2013 06:14 AM

wow - that looks good.

The Hydra should be a hit

Hi Eric. Nice to finally see someone doing some calibration work on a proper dyno! :party0030:

Yes, we are using a development version of what will become the MoTeC FT86 unit. It looks like it will be an awesome piece once we get all of the details tested. While we have something that runs the engine and is easily tunable for best power, there is still a lot (read as months not days) of work before MoTeC will consider the product appropriate for sale.

One of the neatest things is that it does direct and indirect injection from the same box. No driver module needed.

And, it has taken MoTeC's data handling/viewing a large step forward.

Keeping an eye on this, sounds interesting.
